Postby Pilot_Yurk » Mon Jun 18, 2007 2:28 pm

Hello Guys ;-)

My Auto Approaching has been landing a little off the runway like one gear on the ground and one on the runway, do any of you know the reason of this?
one more question: How can i "call" the Fuel truck and the baggage carrier one?
Thanks a lot guys ;)) Hope u can help me.

See u, hugs.

Fuel truck is ctrl f i think...check your key settings.

As for auto approach, don't get that confused with auto land.  It will bring you in on the ILS slope, but it will not land for you.  If it runs perfectly, I believe you will land just at the beginning of the runway cause that is where the glide slope brings you in, but it isn't an auto lander.  Somewhere before minimum (or decision height), you need to take control of the plane and land it.

You need to cancel your autopilot for the last few hundred feet of your approach, the ILS is designed to get you lined up & set up (guided in) for your landing, not to perform the final few hundred feet & the flare. Remember the AP is tracking the VOR, which will be sitting next to the runway, not on it.

"Remember the AP is tracking the VOR, which will be sitting next to the runway, not on it. "

That's what i was talking about:
So if it tracks VOR which is sitting next, is there a way to make it track ON the runway?

no, that isn't what it is designed to do.  A lot of real planes have auto landers that do that, but FS doesn't incorporate that.

The FSX default planes don`t do cat II and cat III autoland but the facility does exist.  The 767-300ER has this facility and it works in FSX aok.  Darn amazing to see for the first time, lands on the runway and autobrakes on its own, all the time you`re saying "this aint gonna work, this aint gonna work!".  I wouldn`t use it all the time but nice to see, especially with the altitude callouts and the voice that tells you when other traffic is around.  Almost full FMC to get to grips with too, good fun.

May I add that once you get familiar with a FMC you will be at ease with 90% of FMC's of other aircraft. Most Mcdonnell Douglas and Boeing aircraft have FMCs which are exactly the same.
