The Ekranoplan Project

Hello everyone. For a while now, I have been working on something...something...you guys may find cool...let me say no more for now. Let the pictures do the talking!  :D

Now, this is part of "FSX Boats Pack". Once finished, it may have the USS Nimitz, the frigate and the cruise ship. If any two people would like to do testing in multiplayer (I would, but no one is my friend...), they could test and see if the player him/herself is landable. Right now, I only have the Ekranoplan done, and I am working out some kinks (cockpit view not working unless selected from view menu). In the end, it will have the 747 flight model - however, if you own the Alphasim Orlynok, you could possibly substitute its flight model. Hope you enjoyed it. :)

It will be uploaded to SimV   ;) :)

I can tell you because I tested: if a player choose the aircraft carrier, it WILL BE LANDABLE !!
I know it simply because I already tried to replace an AI plane by the carrier, and it resulted in a flying and landable carrier, on which you could land, switch your engines off and get transported lie a parasite until the landing place :)

EDIT: Check this out:

If you can land on AI, I would expect that you can also land on a player :)

By the way, that Ekranoplan looks fantastic, it even has the self-shadow, that's cool.
Are you using some default flight model, or did you take one on the net ? How does it behave ? Does it have a VC (yeah, I know I'm being a "bit" too optimistic on this one ;) )

That is a cool model there! With that many engines it looks as if it was made to fly a bit faster than the 747 and be a bit lighter, a few adjustments to the cfg should make it perfect...but hey its not my idea! o

which mission?!!

I believe it's called Tokyo Transport.  You take a bell, pick up some people on a building, then go to the airport and they get on a CRJ and you get in a Lear and follow them.  From what I've seen in screenshots you end up at some top secret like island runway thingy that looks really cool but I followed them for like a half an hour then got really bored and quit.

You know that you can save during missions.

It helps with some of the long and the more difficult ones.

I set it on 4x...and tried following the Challenger manually...needless to say, I may be one of the worlds best hypersonic pilots. :P

Guys, I will get set on working on the Nimitz, Frigate and Liner tonight. I will also fix things up in the .cfg, and see if I can modify the 747 for it.

Also, with the Nimitz and the like, in theory, deleting the elevator controls and trim will prevent it from taking off. I will also modify the engine power so you don't end up "gliding" off the water.  :)  ;)

Hehe, I wish I could Soui. But these models are FSX only - and in reality the only way the Caspian will fly, is by using the ground effect thats for FSX only. Sorry.  ;)
