Missing panels.

Postby gypsymoth » Wed May 30, 2007 11:41 am

I have installed 3 aircraft & the panels don't show.   I have checked all the usual things as in fs9 & cannot discover any discrepancies so is there a different method for FSX ?     The aircraft folder has a panel folder with bitmap images & a cfg, & the aircraft cfg has panel= so I am feeling stumped.   I'd be grateful for help!!
Thanks.

Tell me which 3 aircraft & the pages they're posted on & I'll check them out for you.

Hi there Hagar & thanks.    I have removed them through frustration but will gather the info at a later date if that's OK? & will post it when I have it.    I was keen to get some British aircraft into FSX & tried the UKMIL Nimrod801 (all these were from here by the way) but got no panel to show, although the Spitful's panel appeared the surround to the main instruments are minus colour.
I didn't have a panel showing on the 789 vs n.zip & the Piaggio Avavnti (p180x.zip) panel is so awful & the handling so twitchy that it's only good for screenshots & not flying.  A pity as I rather like it's unconventional looks & I have it fs9 in the Dell 9150.

The problem ones I mention here are in the Dell XPS M1710 laptop I bought to put fs9 in to while away damp eveings in the Lake District last month & that runs fs9 with all the sliders to the right & is a smooth as silk, so I thought I'd try FSX & have been amazed that it runs more smoothly than in the 9150.

Sorry to be so long-winded.  Cheers.
TWallis.

I found the UKMIL Nimrod posted here. http://www.simviation.com/fsxmilitary2.htm
It has a 2D panel but no DVC like the default aircraft. I'm wondering if this is the cause of your "problem". Try pressing F10 to bring up the 2D panel.

I also tracked down the Spiteful. I'll check that out later.

PS. The Spiteful has a basic DVC which fits your description. It's not to the latest standard. Both aircraft are updated from earlier versions of FS & work best with the 2D panel. I suspect this is the explanation. Press F10 as for the Nimrod. (F9 reverts to DVC view.)

Thanks Hagar - have been away so better late then never!    The F10 works OK but I've decided to only use FSX proper add-ons from now on.    I've just got the Alpha Vampire T11 - a little honey!    One flew over my house last year & I was taken back to childhood when I heard that unmistakeable sound!
