Well there is no "best" there are many different options. Remember FSX is very ram and cpu hungry. Make sure you get a dual core CPU, and 2 gigs of ram. It is a very demanding program and there is no computer out there that can truly max it out and get a good FPS unless you do a LN2 suicide FSX flight :P So if you want to spend your money and get near max settings wait untill around Xmas so tech can catch up to the software. I could tell you what would be my choice of hardware if you want to buy now but that attracts to much stupid debate so drop me a PM if you would like... Have a good one :D

Yeah im in the waiting boat also, I don't likre the idea of waiting because I know that once I upgrade new tech will be here so I always figure get whats out and worry about new stuff when its out. This time around though I want to upgrade to something thats going to run fsx quite happily. It sucks but it will be worth the wait in the end and it give ya more time to save up for that next best cpu... :D

I have just installed FSX in a Dell laptop - a XPS M1710/XPSHomeSP2/Intel Core 2 CPU T7400 @ 2.16GHz 944MHz/2.00 GB RAM/NVIDIA GeForce GO 7900 GTX/80GB Hard drive.    With high settings it runs very well - 30 FPS that drop to 8 or so at Heathrow or Seattle when road traffic is set to 50%.   I also have fs9 in it & with all sliders to the right I get 30-40 FPS at major airports.  I would recommend any Dell with similar specs to this laptop and this is from a devoted Mac user!!
Cheers - hope this helps?!
Terry Wallis.

PS - forgot to say the M1710 cost

There will always be somthing better avalable in "a few more months".
The problem, is the newest hardware always demands a premium price.

Having said that......
Intel "core duo" CPUs and the needed DDR2 memory are are relatively cheap at this point and can be a nice upgrade path for some.

Good but I would say Nvidia 7900 or X1900 minimum for new computers.
