Did you do a fresh install of FSX? Or at least get rid of any aftermarket/3rd party add-ons prior to running SP1? If not try those and it should work fine.

Have you tried downloading it again ?
Usually, I get this error message when the exe file is corrupted.

OK, I will... it takes my comp around 15 hours to download though

And on the list of downloads on the FSinsider site it's the first one, correct?

I suggest you use a download manager. Download manager software will download things in chunks and check it for errors. If if finds corruption it will download the bad chunk instead of the entire file. If you are on dialup or a very slow connection you probably got a corrupt download. Its better you got that install error than install the update and have texture or other files be corrupt making the game crash or run bad.

what do you want me to say?

Many download managers you have to pay for like IDM which is the one I use

Google is your friend but be careful because some of them come from SPAM spyware people

this is what I use: http://www.internetdownloadmanager.com/
