It works!!

might have been posted before, but i went on a free flight - still on it right now actually paused it to come post this.

saw what looked like a few airplanes flying around close proximity to one another - looked closer it was birds circling around. 4 or 5 of them, so i went there and just before i reached the flock -THERMAL - bam!

also i have noticed an increase of about 5 to 7 frames per second, this has brought my low and slow VFR fps in rural areas up to over 35 FPS! in the cities i have been looking at over 17 FPS on average.

I dont know if its me but the thermals in FSX are hiddeous. I turned on the full visualization to test it I flew right into it and nothing happened. Sometimes I would hit it but there was really no way to tell. You don't get that big bump like you do in a real glider. You need to stay level and at constant IAS to tell if you have hit it. It is like beeing on a parachute, you don't feel it in a chute but you can tell after a little while.

full visualization seems to make those spiral symbols much larger than the thermals actually are... maybe its just me but i think the thermals in FSX are fantastically modeled. You get a slight turbulence for a few seconds, then the VSI starts to give you a good rate up as the turbulence starts to fade out and you get a fairly smooth ride in the thermal.

as you come out of it the turbulence starts again but this time you have a downward trend on the VSI

with normal visualization i have flown right through some of those spirals and got nothing... its like you have to be RIGHT in the middle for it to take effect, with natural visualization you just go as close to he hawks as you can and there is the lift.
