ATC Airline...

...Okay, so when I edit my aircraft.cfg file after I put in a new plane, and put the ATC_airline as the airline of the certain plane, how come on free flight, the air traffic contoller doesn't always say the airline, just the flight number. For example, I put in a US Airways texture for the default 737-800, and typed in "US Airways" for the ATC airline, and set the flight number to let's say, 175. I go to an airport, and it might sound like this:
"Los Angeles clearance, 175 with Sierra, ready to taxi IFR to San Francisco as filed."

They just leave out "US Airways"
But if I change it to "US Air" it says it fine. Is there anything I can do about it, or can FSX just not read it?

All the other airlines such as Southwest, Continental, KLM, American, etc all work fine.

:-?

Bowler,

FSX does not just read and pronounce the words that you enter for atc_airline.

The sounds for every airline name, aircraft type and model, etc., are contained in a large sound file within FSX. The code that you entered, "US Air", must match the sound code for "US Air" in order for it to be heard. Even leaving out the space between US and Air will cause a mismatch.

You can modify the FSX sound file to your liking by downloading and running EditVoicePack (EVP), an excellent freeware sound editing program. It takes a while to master EVP, but I believe the time is worth the effort.

In the meantime, check out the link below for a list of airlines, etc., that exist in FS2002 and FS2004. FSX may have a few more names, but I don't know of a list specifically for FSX.

I hope this was of some help.

So are a lot of realworld airlines preprogrammed?

Yes.  If you check out the link up above in my earlier post, you'll find about 180 real-world airlines that are preprogrammed in FS2002 and FS2004.  FSX may have even more.
