Time/Clock in FSX

Time/Clock in FSX

Postby jnigeld11 » Thu May 10, 2007 12:30 pm

Something I noticed and haven't been able to resolve myself yet. In the "SELECT TIME AND SEASON" window/function, GMT shows incorrect time vs Local time. Example: If local time is 1:00pm EST US (1300hrs EST US), GMT shows 5:00pm (1700hrs), but the actual GMT SHOULD BE  6:00pm (1800hrs)...GMT is 1 hour off. Now, if I correct the GMT to where it should be, the Local time automatically changes and then Local time is 1 hour incorrect from GMT. Anyone else noticed FSX time/clock discrepancies and is so, is there a fix?

Regards,
Nigel

GMT is a constant time, were as US time in most areas changes twice a year by one hour. Clocks were pushed forward by one hour, hence your differance will be minus one hour from GMT

OK and thanks loomex. Guess I got confused as every World Time/World Clock web-site I've been to keeps stating that the difference between GMT (UK) and EST (US) time should be 5 hours on May 5th, 2007, not 4 hours (in the past I always found that the UK was 5 hours ahead of the Eastern US). Guess FSX has it right after all! I'm sure not going to trust the other sites anymore.

Thanks and Regards,
Nigel

I have issues as it thinks I am on the west coast, and adjusts the time as such.\

We are currenlty in BST (British Summer Time) here in the UK, which is GMT +1

IF the GMT offset is wrong, what does CET (Central European Time) say, as they are currently 1 hour ahead of BST also?

Friday, May 11th, 2007:                                                                                                                    My system clock is correct in showing 1600 hours EST US.
The BST (UK) posted on "time and date.com" is 2100 hours for Friday, May 11th, 2007. That would be a 5 hour difference. It also states that BST is GMT + 1 hour.
My FSX is now showing a 7 hour difference between EST US (local time) and GMT...1600 hours local time and 2300 hours GMT...add the 1 hour for BST...  :o  :o ?
Really confused now...just wanted to start a Trans-Atlantic flight as realistic as possible  :-?  :-?
