Something To Think About

Just something to think about with FS.

How many combinations are there for a flight?

You have THOUSANDS of airplanes to fly, not including the liveries that come with them.
You can set the time, from hours, to minutes, and then down to SECONDS!
You can set the weather. 4 types of clouds to select, precipitation, visibility, pressure etc.
You have 365 days to choose from, not to mention 2000+ years!
You can set a whole variety of failures.

The possibilities for a flight are endless! Scary isn't it?  :o ;D

You've forgot you can go anywhere on the globe and visit over 24,000 airports!  :o 8-)

Still, you should have more than 10, 000, 000 combinations. ;)

Please keep in consideration that some of us fly only with the virtual cockpit.
So we have MUCH LESS than a 100 planes to fly... and maybe less than 50... not thousands like you said ;)

With respect thats like saying I only fly blue planes so only count them.  The options are there, you just don`t use them is all.

I'd say the combinations are near-infinite.  I don't think you could ever do the same exact flight twice if you tried.  Think about it.  The human hand isn't perfect.  Therefore, there will always be some variation in the way you control the plane.  Your flight path will vary, etc.

see all this is part of why FSX isn't running to well yet, because they had to make highly detailed VC's, and models, buildings some with realist windows, cars, boats, detailed terrain, autogen, for the whole world. And when you think about Microsoft have to go and recreate the whole world and put it in on 4 DVDs, so I think its ok if they made some errors because if you think about it the world is huge! :)

well I think we'll need a math wizard with a lot of time on his/her hands to figure that out. ;D But the combos are way much more then a Rubik's Cube i can assure you that. ;D

if i may interjet, just with one aircraft, there are more than 100,000,000,000,000 combinations of flying, merely because you mentioned being able to set the time from year down to the second.

this post is seeming quite redundent to me, but if ur point is that FS is amazing in many ways, and that we shouldnt keep dissing it, then yah, i agree.

Must be a bus driver...  ;)  I doubt you're using a VC 100% of the time.  I don't know of anyone who doesn't get out in mid-flight occasionally for a brief stroll around the outside of the plane.  If you are, then you are cheating yourself out of some beautiful graphics on some of these planes.

I think he meant he flies planes with a VC instead of only the 2D, I am with him.  He never said he dosen't look at the plane from the outside every so often ;D

Oh and that adds millions of other combinations, the views, we use the views in thousands of different combinations each flight  ;D

Str1ker, that is exactly my point. FS, is great, in MANY, MANY ways, and we should all take the time to step away from our graphics problems, or slow FPS, and fly, simply fly, while enjoying what we have.
