Ok. Im never buying any microsoft crap again. I've had FSX for wahile, and ive been playin it with two gigs. But I still thought it was slow, so I bought a 4-gig ram stick and put it in my PC. Now when I boot up fs, and start flying, its not different at all from the 2 gigs I had. It actually makes it worse! Like after a minute of gameplay the textures get worse on the planes and the fs world, then over time they get even worse. If you guys have any solutions to this, or the texture problem, please comment! Thanks if you guys help me out of this rut.
Ok Brett, I had two gigs. I bought a little stick that had 4 gigs. Now im up to six gigs now. And for you guys, here's my specs:
MODEL
LENOVO 738727U
CPU
amd aTHLON(TM) 64 x2
dUAL cORE pROCESSOR(arg, dang caps lock-sorry)
3800+
RAM
2046 MB (plus 4 gigs now)
GPU
NVIDIA GeForce 8800
GTX 768 mb
OS
Microsoft Windows Vista
Ok.....have a look at my rig. Is there anything in there that FSX doesn't like?
I am afraid that CPU is waaaaay outmatched. X2 6000+ clocked up is the least I would run for 8800 and FSX and expect scenery with smooth.
Hello,
Well then, I think I'll wait to get an 8800. I was thinking about buying one just for FSX. It actually kinda makes me mad that MS went and released something so cool as FSX but that only folks with extreme high end systems can run smoothly and make it look like the screen shots that MS released. I would consider my system to be pretty good, but this game eats it alive, even at low settings. And at low settings, what's the point? I can run FS2004 with everything maxed out and it's pretty smooth flying. And it looks pretty good. So what's the point of upgrading to FSX at this point? I'm still asking myself that. Certainly not for the visuals, anyway.I am afraid that CPU is waaaaay outmatched. X2 6000+ clocked up is the least I would run for 8800 and FSX and expect scenery with smooth.
There's an X2 6000+? I didn't know that. Unless you meant an X2 clocked to 6000+ - which would be what clock speed? Anyway I have an X2 4800+ which when I bought it was as good as it got, beside the FX series.
Sorry for ranting like this. I'm sure there's a million guys like me out there frustrated about the performance issues in FSX. I sure hope SP1 helps to fix some of this aggravation.
Regards,
Shawn
