Using satellite imaging would cost a lot of disk space, considerably more than FSX already requires.
And making autogen for those images would take longer than the (nice) approach FSX had on this subject - "generic" autogen and terrain images.
The only thing that will be changed in future is increasing varietyof the images - just like they did in FSX compared to FS9 - to get a more diverse texturing of the landscape.
Btw: A new landclass could fix your problem.
P.S: I've read somewhere that SP1 will be about 250 Mbytes in download size.

Well the mesh complex level made no difference so lake valencia is still on a hill, but like I said, that is easy to fix it just requires the area have a flat command in the scenery library.
Here are some shots from the airport. There is a huge flat valley area noted. If it does not look right I wonder if Aces just messed up the long-lat numbers and put the airport and town in the wrong place (too close to the mountains)
If that is the case I would think someone could fix that by changing the BGL files for the area.
http://www.simviation.com/yabbuploads/AlrotAP6.jpghttp://www.simviation.com/yabbuploads/AlrotAP7.jpgLike I said, if the airport and town are not the same in your area then I would suspect they are just not positioned right in the sim. I know mountains in my area tend to look a bit closer than they are, but are right where they should be compared to the city.
From the Google shots you posted, it looks just about right Alrot. The town is in the flats but next to the foothills of the mountain range
You have to remember that FULL autogen to show ALL the buildings and structures is impossible. I am running less than half of what those guys with 8800 cards are so my town and autogen is very thin.

EDIT: Forget this post and check it out a few posts down
Google
http://www.simviation.com/yabbuploads/ValenciaGog2.JPGMy Sim
http://www.simviation.com/yabbuploads/alrothome.jpgThey look almost identical
I just can not draw the entire city area on my system because my autogen is defined to be very small.
I would bet those newer cards can but even those are running about 2/3 of the default autogen numbers and not at full slider either
I am sure someone will come out with replacement scenery and perhaps photo real of valencia area as FSX gets more popular
I recall seeing something over at Avs,,,,,, that someone just released for SA in photo real scenery. You may want to check that out. I thought I read it was quite large and covered a lot of South America

I don't have FSX yet, but if you fly around Phuket (where I live) in FS9, apart from occasional areas, its all forest land. even my house is a forest.
btw, satellite imagery would only help if there where a way to compress it to tiny file sizes, and there is no such way of doing so.
also, satellite imagery or aerial photography tends to hav perspective, so a the terrain one you fly over it, might show the side of a building+ its roof, and that'd be weirder then just seeing the roof...

The Gen X photoreal landscape of England and Wales is absolutely marvellous. But a full install is 60GBs, so imagine what the world would be like. And it is only one season, so far without night lighting, and without the autogen they have promised. It'll be huge by the time they have finished just one small country. However there is freeware for Chile, photo scenery coming from Megascenery for the US, so there will be a whole lot soon and that will eat up our hard drives. It is the best but it is massive. For places like Phuket get something like the Cloud9 world landclass, it is more carefully made - and use fsgenesis 76m mesh. I'm in Australia and our default treatment is good in the big cities but pretty ordinary elsewhere, but new mesh and landclass is altering all that. Remember Google Earth has the world on its server system not our HDD and we simply call down what we need.

I have the Europe textures installed (free download), tweaked my system (details if necessary) and added Traffic (FSX compatible), I stood it on the windowsill for a minute to cool down. Then I added a free patch to adjust some problems in the Afcads for FSX. The only payware was Traffic,

These reduced size pics don`t do FSX much justice, they look stunning in the flight sim itself with all my optimisations. The area alrot is gorgous, I have added this airport to my faves list and will be making many many more visits to it in the future.
