Screen Squished

Postby BuzzLightBeer » Wed Apr 11, 2007 8:36 am

I installed a new freeware aircraft to FSX and now when I try to play (with any aircraft), the screen is squished towards the top about 3 inches, leaving a black area at the bottom. Anyone else have this problem before?

Thanks!

The problem is linked to the definition of the 2D panel in the panel.cfg of this aircraft.
There are two solutions, but I can remember only one: go edit the panel.cfg to remove all about the 2D panel (all the [windowxx] sections). This should be enough. Keep a copy of your original panel.cfg, just in case someone remembers the other solution ;)

PS: of course, the solution I describe is only valid for those like me that fly ONLY from the virtual cockpit. If you are a 2D panel lover, don't even read my post :)
PS2: maybe deleting only the main 2D panel section ([Window00] or something like that) would be enough, I don't know...

I'll try this when I get home today. I do only fly with the virtual cockpit so hopefully it will work.
The aircraft was a P-38 which I downloaded the 2004 version and then the FSX upgrade.

Thanks for the help!

It happens to me also when flying the Fokker DR1 add-on. The problem will continue with any aircraft thereafter unless I close FSX and start it again...then all is fine.
Hope all is well in your world today
