FSX panel in FS9

Hi all, I have found a really nice panel designed for FSX(which I have and love) but I still fly FS9. My question is, Will an FSX acft or panel work in FS9 without causing any conflicts?

Thanks for any help
Joe

The only way to find it is to try it. Depends if the aircraft/panel/gauges were created specifically for FSX. Not many 'FSX addons' will have the latest features & are simply updated from FS9 (or earlier). In this case some gauges might be incompatible.

If the gauges are Aces XML coding, I don't think they will work in FS9 since
they use a different schema. I'm not sure if you can import that into FS9.

Perhaps some of the knowledgable gauge designers here can comment on that
aspect. other that the gauges, there may be texture issues as well.

But as Hagar points out, you can just go ahead and try it. It shouldn't
"break" anything. Just pet\keep the gauges in the panel folder when you
copy the aircraft across.

ok I'll try it. Can it also cause a problem if the gauges are in the gauges folder as well as the acft panel folder?

If the gauges are adaptations of those that come as default in FSX (if that makes sense!), then they will not work in FS9. I've tried it. Certain FS9 gauges, as well as homebuilt creations (only those in .xml format) can be transplanted into FSX, but the latter's gauges are not compatible and will not show up in FS9, period. Reason may be due to different xml coding used in FSX - I've seen postings on this, but am not knowledgeable enough about xml to state what the differences are.

When importing an aircraft from FS9 to FSX I always keep the gauges in the
panel folder so that if there is a problem or I don't wish to keep the aircraft,
I can easily remove everything.

Once you start putting imported gauges into the main gauge folder you
MAY overwrite a gauge of the same name but not the same revision.
Also, it will be more of a hassle to extract and remove those imported
gauges if you don't want to keep the aircraft.

Some FSX gauges have the same names as FS9 gauges but are not
identical, I do believe. You don't want to corrupt your FS9 default gauges
in a situation such as that.
