I have just spent the entire night making thumbnails for my planes.

I've spent some time doing thumbnails but i got bored and stopped, it's very annoying and time consuming.

I had a thought a while ago. Why don't we have a thread where people can post thumbnails they have created, then all you have to do is right click on the image, click "save image as" and rename as thumbnail.jpg and stick it in the correct place.

Just a thought.

Maybe it won't be long until freeware designers are including a thumbnail image in the download.

Sounds like the ideal solution.

Maybe you're going about it the wrong way. I used good old MS Paint. I take a screen shot, open Paint. Paste the screen shot. Use the selection tool to select what I want to keep. Use Copy to in the Edit menu. and save as a JPG.  Takes me about 1 minute per thumbnail.

JPG files take up a lot less space than BMP

You could always try Autothumbnail .. haven't tried it ...

Pete, I owe you a pint of whatever you drink...  :)  The program crashed after two thumbnails, but it's still easier than doing it manually.  8-)   Stupid of me not to have checked for it, but I thought it was still too soon for the really cool stuff to be coming out yet for FSX.  ;)

P.S: Solution for the thumbnail craze: Tone down on your add-ons. You don't have the time to fly all that stuff, anyways.

It's not about having specific aircraft, it's about being able to fly whatever strikes my fancy at the time.  Some days I like the Goose, some days, I want a F-22...

I just made my first one. Took me less than five minutes and part of that was waiting for FSX to start up and to load the flight. Only trouble I had was figuring out where to put the file. Quick look at an airplane with a thumbnail told me that. I think you making it too hard on yourself. Photoshop is a very complex program. Use something simpler for projects like thumbnail creation.

Yeah, I am using a thumbnail program now.  Doing one plane is no problem.  Wait until you do over 100, with all the unique variations added, then come back and tell me how easy it is...  ;)
