Make sure the INSTALL DVD'S are clean. I had a problem the first time I tried to install FSX and the problem was the second disk was dirty. I am not quite sure how it got that way as I never touch the surface of any disks I always grab them by the sides. 8-)

If he has an early version of Windows XP , make sure SP2, Net framwork 2.0 is installed. You can do this by clicking on Windows Update.

If he only has service pack 1 I do not think it will even try to install at all. I remember when the demo first came out I tried to install and I got a message right after I started the install sating that I needed service pack 2. 8-)
