I try to open fsx but it won't let me! It says "the MSXML4 SP2 component is not installed. Please reinstall Flight simulator to restore or repair this component". I try repair fs itself with the disc. But as long as I take the disc out after fixing it. It still says the same thing for some reason. Can anyone help?

Try downloading and stall the MSXML4 SP directly from Microsoft's website. It should help. If it doesn't, well, I guess you're one of the unfortunate few.

Hey guys, here's my machine: Asus P4 Motherboard
Intel Pentium 4 3.0 GHZ CPU
1 Gig PC3200 Menory
2 x Seagate 120 GB 7200 8MB Cache in Raid 1 Config
BFG OC Geforce 6800 256 MB AGP Card
Onboard 32 Bit Sound Card
Gig onboard LAN
DVD drive R. W. - Optical Mouse
ATX Case w/400W Power Supply
Windows XP Home Edition
21" DELL Monitor
I purchased and installed FSX Deluxe, can not run it at all, only with all sliders all the way down. but thats no fun, because you don't even have the airport terminals at airports, planes sitting in wide open fields.
Does that nean my machine/ graphic card is just much to small and outdated? >:(
I'm glad I kept my FS2004 installed. At least I can still enjoy flying, which I've done since FS95 came out.
Can anyone help and suggest what kind of machine I should have? I mean to be able to fly FSX. ::)
Thanks in advance for your help. :)
John

Ideally you're looking for a motherboard with DDR2 memory, a CPU with 2MB L2 cache and an Nvidia 7900 series or ATI X1900 series GPU as a minimum spec.

we all have almost the same issue , I really hope this SP1 (wich I think the proper name should be Service Fix 1)because everyone thinks that Microsoft release a software for an unexistace computer ,no matter what you waste you can buy the best CPU ,filled with 3 gb ram DDr2 , you' wont be able to set all the sliders to the top without experiment the framerate very slow
I sugest you to check the post FSX-SLI in the page 4 =
http://www.simviation.com/cgi-bin/yabb2 ... 2157609/45 here Mistpilot has a very interesting tweak that work for me
Until MS release (our only hope ) this SP1 for FSX

Thanks Jim & alrot,
Its time to update my machine anyway, its close to 2 years old. I did look up on FSX-SLI, but think I'll update my comp. and wait for SP1 for FSX.
In the meantime I'll just enjoy my FS2004.
Thanks again guys. 8-)

Mine runs it, but it will go herky-jerky if I really rip into it with the views button and go insane with the hat switch. Still, FS2004 runs far, far better than effesex. I guess we'll all have to wait for the DX-10 cards to come out in the Fall(?)...
