What does it mean when someone says something like "...with information India"? Or they say their call sign and then "with India"?  [smiley=dankk2.gif]

It means they have listened to the ATIS and are letting the controller know they have current weather.

When a new ATIS* report is filed it is given a letter to identify it, A, B, C, D & so on for each consecutive report, these are referred to using the Phonetic alphabet, Alpha, Bravo, Charlie etc.

When you contact ATC you will let them know which ATIS report you are working from by telling them something like "Landing with India" - ATC will then know if you are using the latest report filed by which 'letter' you have quoted to them. It's important to use the latest report as weather conditions, especially wind direction, may have changed recently.

*ATIS: Automatic Terminal Information Service. Automatically recorded message transmitted on a particular frequency, containing current weather conditions, QNH setting, active runways, etc., provided at the major airports.

"Landing with Juliet" & "Landing with Whisky" always raise a smile for me ;D

Wow, thanks a bunch for the help! That was great! Does the air traffic controller know what the latest "Letter" is any other way than just listening to the report every once in a while?

Don't worry about ATC, they're pretty much on top of their game, they're the ones checking up on what report your using ;)

Well, sometimes on multiplayer I play as air traffic control, and I was just wondering if the only way to find out was actually by listening to ATIS.

Ahh, I see - well I've not tried the MP on FSX, I stick to FS9 on my system, I would imagine that in FS you would pretty much have to listen to the ATIS yourself.

Hopefully somebody else with FSX MP knowledge will know a bit more.

Maybe BAW0343 will pop back & add some fancy terms. ;)

Cheers,

:P

Well when a Pilot comes up and asks for clearance they will often say what information they have. However in FS this is a rarity. Even on VATSIM I don't remember many pilots saying they had info, and vatsim has a nice fancy system for FS9 ATIS too lol  Also with the program they use it has a nice little feature that tells you when the weather has been updated, not sure about real life but with luck I should know in another year or two  ;D So ive lost track of the point, here it is: FSX you need to listen to ATIS yourself It only takes a second because It always opens with "Airport information Alpha" or whatever it may be at that time, and thats all you need to hear in order to know if the pilots are up to date.
