yes, somewhat confused...

ok, i can see the jetways, and i press control-j, no little green box appears, but nothing happens
anyone know what im doing wrong?

OK. First of all.

Go into your FSX Display Settings. Make sure advanced animations is checked. Make sure you are using a DEFAULT airliner. Taxi right up to the jetway and park on the line. Press CTRL+J and you're done. Works for me.

what kind of card do you have?

And does your plane have the relevant aircraft.cfg info...

OMG, can we pin a post dedicated just to jetways please?  ;D

Make sure you wait for it.

Make sure you are lined up correctly.

It takes a bit of time for the jetway to get to you (at least, it does for me).

SO, be paitent.

im still not sure if im lined up right, nothing is happening... do you go next to the jetway so the its facing your door, or do you park on the line?  i have advanced animations, and no default airliners work

This is why I created the "Basic FSX FAQ" thread. It answers alot of questions that 90% of the new people ask but it just got pushed back by more questions most of which were already answered in it...  :-/

Anyway trojan rabbit what is your video card? It is a problem with that if you have advanced animations on.

Hmmm... Idont hav FSX, but i hav an idea to certify that ur hardware is doing this:

when creating a flight, during the part about selecting the airport, rather than starting on the runway, select a gate (one that would fit the aircraft ur flying).  Then start up.  You should be, if not perfect, lined up with a gate.  press ctrl+j, then see wat happens.

if that doesnt work, then it may be a hardware deal.

Hey Rabbit  :), I have FSX deluxe, and my jet-ways work perfect, you have to be patient, it takes a while. But it works beautifully.

Your video card has to be at least DX9 compatible in order for the jetways to work. My video card is only DX8 compatible so it doesn't allow jetways to work for me.

if i get a better graphic card, will poushing the settings higher affect frame rates like now??

and can you recemend one that isn't to expensive, you know how it is.

we called dell and they said our comp would not take a better card

A computer limited to one graphic card ?
What kind of computer is that ?  ;D
My guess is that you currently have a GeForce 5200, which does not support the latest DirectX 9 features regarding animations, like the jetways or the flexing wings. Because the 5200 is an AGP card, there shouldn't be any problem to upgrade to a later AGP card... excepted if you dont have enough room in the PC case.

But you didn't answer precisely yet: what is your current graphic card ?
