Y my reversing slew key??

I've just bought another Saitek Cyborg 3D stick, and there's a slew problem. Suppose my aircraft is in an airport parking slot and I'm in a hurry to get to the runway, normally I'll hit the Y key and the aircraft is ready to slew - but will only move / slide in any direction when I move the stick in that direction. But what happens now is that the moment I hit Y my aircraft goes into fast reverse, and keeps sliding backwards until I hit Y again. If I slew to a position I want and let go of the stick, the plane still reverses at about 20 knots. This happens with Numlock on or off. If anyone can suggest cause and remedy, it would be much appreciated.

It sounds like your joystick isn't calibrated correctly. There should be something in the 'settings' area of flight sim, but I am unfamilier with FSX so maybe somebody can help you with that.

Thanks - but the problem's the same with fs9, and neither seem to have any settings that are relevant to this.

they use the same calibration settings. Go to control panel, then to game controllers, Highlight your controller then hit calibrate.

I have exactly the same stick, and I have exactly the same problem....!
It seems to be peculiar to this make and model of Joystick...!
As soon as I have the Flight Sim up and running, I have to rotate the stick, and twist the stick, through its maximum movements, in all directions, and rotate the throttle through it's maximum movement a number of times to get the Joystick to recognise its max/min limits.
This has to be performed every time the Sim is loaded up, just before starting the flight.
Calibrating the stick from the Start>Settings>Control Panel> Game Controllers before loading the game doesn't seem to help in this case.
The initial calibration sequence doesn't appear to be memorised by the Computer!
It only seems to happen with the Saiteck Cyborg Evo Force Joystick, and this problem doesn't exist on any of my other joysticks.
Paul...A Stick of Joy... 8-)...!

You're even worse off than I am, Fozzer. At least my stick functions normally apart from the reverse slew. Calibration is no help on that score, nor of course is it meant to be. Given your infuriating woes, perhaps I'd better be grateful for what I've got! The problem is doubly curious, because the Cyborg which the new one replaces was absolutely fine ...

Just move the stick back and forth a couple of times to calibrate before hitting slew and see if that solves you particular problem.
BTW, when sitting on ther ramp or runway, you always check your control surfaces anyway by moving your stick/yoke to their limits of thier travel as part of your pre filght ..... right?

Bully for you! A back and forth stick waggle does indeed solve the problem. Simple indeed, and many thanks. As for pre-takeoff contol check: in real life I'm scrupulous about it, but must confess that in virtual life I've been careless. From now on I'm a reformed [virtual] character ...

Glad your problem is solved.
