Push back doesn't work

I probably missed something but has anyone else had problems with Pushback?
I've tried different key assignments, different button assignments, I've also tried FSInn's pushback instead, the FSUIPC keymapper and even tried my own joystick mapper but whatever I do the plane just sits there quietly doing nothing.
Any ideas??
Cheers
Ian

I can think of two errors at the moment:
- Parking brakes not released prior to pushback (works for a 738 anyways, but looks ugly

)
- No pushback feature avaiable on the airport

Cheers Heretic, definitely chocks away, brakes released and ready to go. I've tried this at EGLL and KSEA so probably not that either. Besides there was a smug little pushback truck sitting next to me at Heathrow...
I'll try a re-install though can't imagine how that'll help!

Hm.
Pushback is a basic thing, so I guess it doesn't have to do anything with advanced animations and stuff.
A faint thought tells me it could be a corrupted animation file, so I support your idea of a re-installation.
Give it a try, Ian and report back.

Oh well it was worth a try I guess. No luck, ran the Repair install and still get nothing. A real puzzle - everything else seems to work fine.

did you try completely uninstalling it and reinstailing it? or did u just reinstall? if all else fail there is always slew mode to get you out of a gate..........

He shouldnt have to use slew though, the feature comes with the game so one would expect it to work

Do as DONTREADMYUSERNAME said and completely uninstall FSX, then do a reboot and install FSX again.

Well I'm a bit sleepy (it's 01:00 now and I'm no spring chicken) but I think I've got to the bottom of this - it's FSUIPC4.
After an un-install, a reboot, a clean, successfull install and hours and hours of methodical testing I've found nothing else that causes this problem.
If I set DISABLE=True in the dll.xml file for FSUIPC4 the pushback works, if I re-enable it the pushback does nothing. (Before you ask I've checked there aren't any rogue key presses in FSUIPC4.INI file that might be counteracting the FSX one).
What deepens the mystery for me is that if I delete the FSUIPC4.dll file and remove the entry from DLL.XML everything still works, including FsInn so why I felt the need to buy it is beyond me! (Unless it's required by WideFS??? God I hope not, I just blew a ton of money on a another PC + router to set up a separate instrument display....)
Oh well, mystery solved, I'll report back to Peter Dowson. In the meatime can anyone tell me why I might need FSUPIC4 (not being sarcastic - genuine question).

Erm...uh...FSUIPC,eh? Erm...well...I have noooooooooo idea.
I use it myself 'though, but I suspect it of eating up CPU power and causing memory leaks.
Might be a conflict with SimConnect.

Problem solved and and putting the answer on record for anyone else who gets this.
Peter Dowson identified an undocumented feature of FSUIPC4 that causes pushback to be ignored if
SetNoAxisIntercepts=Yes in the FSUIPC4.ini file.
Setting this back to
SetNoAxisIntercepts=No (the default value) resolves the issue which will hopefully be addressed in the next interim release of FSUIPC4.
If you don't know what that flag is for you don't need to worry

All the best
Ian
