Out of available memory?

Sometimes when I fly in FSX, after a while I get an error message saying that FSX is out of available memory-please restart Flight Sim with different settings. I dont think that it is because of to much stuff trying to be displayed, because it has happened in cities, and even out in the Alaskan tundra with no traffic activated. :-? It kinda sucks because it causes a CTD.
I dont think this should be happening because of the computer I am running
System Specs:
Intel Core 2 Duo 4.26GHz
2GB RAM
500GB HDD
GeForce 8800 GTX
Thanks for any help

PS: It has also happened on my old pc:
Radeon 9000 64MB
1 Gig RAM
80GB HDD
Pentium IV

How large is your pagefile? Even with 2gb of RAM you still need one of a decent size. Opinions may vary but I say you should have at least 1 GB pagefile on your HDD.

leave it on page setting by the system,BUT that's won't fix itry to start dxdiag see how much memory you really have, diferent mmory ddr can make a conflit and it worth two of the same mark also does, this is risk ,but you have to have a hardware issue pal, neither with 512 you shouln't see this,I had an old pc too ,with just 320 ram ,and I never saw that, and running FSX, you could have one of the ddr with a problem

Out of available memory = check scenery.cfg numbering...
Rebuilding scenery cache (scenery.dat removal) for addon scenery might help too

i had mine do that during a multiplayer session. i was in a pretty dense area and everythign was running fine at least as good as 12-13 FPS if memory serves. and it gave me that routine, i restarted the game, rejoined multiplayer and went right back to what i doing when it crashed. i never saw that message again yet.

i have had a very similar problem. FPS starts out fine then over time gets worse until it stops working all together.

Did I read that wrong or something??

4.26 GHz! :o What model processor is that, overclocked or not? I want one! [smiley=vrolijk_26.gif] Was that computer a custom build or did you buy it somewhere?
Must either be overclocked or a simple type-o (2.46GHZ).

if he could afford a 4.26ghz cpu i am sure he would have a lot more than 2 gig ram in his system.

Don`t get into an awful lazy way of doing things like I did, this definately causes memory problems. Instead of looking around in 2D mode from inside the cockpit, I was looking around from the external spot view all the time. With Aircraft on ultra high, Graphics Ultra High and Scenery on Ultra High, Weather set low on purpose, Traffic on custom-all 100% on it soon bombs out.
I only recently bought a new Acer T180 AMD 3800+ 64 bit Dual Core with 1 meg cache, 1 gig ddr2 mem, 160 gig Sata, DVD dual layer, Card reader, built in network, sound and Video (Nvidea 6100) with tower and power supply, MCE 2005 and free upgrade to Vista Premium 32 bit, keyboard and mouse for

Sorry about that guys, was a typo, 2.26GHz.
Anyway, I havn't seen the problem happen yet since I upped the FIBER_FRAME_RATE, but that doesnt mean that its gone.
