Manual 737 start-up?

Is there any way at all?

I flip the starters, have throttle at idle, open the crossfeed, use the fuel pump, fuel control is already open.

Can you start this plane manually in this game at all?

I can't start any jets I reckon, only the props.

I've asked this question a way back before as well, and as far as I can tell its near impossible, if not impossible.

Props are easy, the only jet I've managed to start up is the airbus, so hopefully someone else can help out.

I'm assuming that you saved your default flight as "cold & dark".

There are problems in FSX with many of the aircraft starter systems when
trying to start them using the panel switches.  In most cases, you'll have
to revert to CTL+E ( ugh! ) to get them fired up. However, once you DO
start them in this manner, you can then shut them down and they will
re-start using the panel starters. Some essential variables are apparently
not controlable on many panels but CTL+E sets them correctly.

Here's what I've done, other than changing the starter code. Get your
default flight aircraft started with CTL+E, then shut it down and re-save
the flight as the default. That MAY allow you to then start the aircraft
using the panel controls on future flights.

On the 737-800, I think you have to call up the throttle quadrant window
and click on the fuel valve controls below the throttles. Once started by
this method, however, the "Start Valve Open" lights will remain on in the
EICAS display. ( using CTL+E they come on but extinguish after start ).

I modified my B737-800 code to get the engines to start from the overhead
switches.

Gipsy, my simfreind.
How often have the two of us not been talking about startup problems fs9 to fsx planes.
I hope there'll soon be some updates. Don't you?

Indeed!   I just spent the whole afternoon attempting to clean up
the B737-800 starters but something in the Aces XML format is
foiling my attempts :(

The manual 738 startup works for me.

- Batteries on
- Fuelpumps on
- Starters On
- N1 @ 2,8-3%
- Fuel Flow On (Throttle Quadrant)
- Up and running

If the fuel flow levers don't work, I use CTRL+SHIFT+F4 instead. Works also.

HERETIC, HERetic, heretic.
No matter what problems, you are just flying by with the AB on and leave us all with some broken windows!
Gipsy, do we need some antiaircraft missiles? Do you know where to get it? And do you have the money?
Maybe i can get a heretic radar............

No, because that's what I did.

I've been able to perform a manual startup for A321 OK, but not for the 737.  Maybe I'll give Heretic's 738 startup a go.

If you want to play real world start up, you do not touch the cross feed. It is only used to correct fuel imbalance or during a single engine op's.
Also the start levers do not start the engine rotating. You have to use the starter switch on the overhead panel to allow bleed air from the APU to turn the starter. Open the start handle at 24% to 30% N2. Starter cut out should then return you start switch at 45% N2. you can then start the second engine, that being engine number 1 as you always start engine number 2 first. If you want to cross start then you need to open the bleed isolation valve on the bleed/cabin conditioning panel.

That may be true of the real world, Matt, but it in no way resembles what you need to do to
start the FSX B737-800.

The APU really does nothing as far as I can tell.
The GRD-FLT start switches do nothing. The local variables that are changed when these
switches are activated merely allow for the switch position to change. I can't find any
refernece to those variables anywhere else in the code. The same is true for the 3-position
"starter" switch.

To start the engines you must click on what WOULD be the fuel cut-offs just below the
throttles, but in this panel are the "master starters".

I modified my 737-800 such that those "master starters" are now actually the fuel cut-offs,
the GRD-FLT switches activate my starters when switched to FLT. They automatically return
to the GRD position once N1 goes above 24%.  Not "real life" but better than the M$ implementation, IMO.
