F14 Compatibility in FSX

Postby TabooTikiGod » Wed Jan 31, 2007 12:00 am

When flying online, I've seen a few freeware F14's flying around the multiplayer sessions.

Which F14's are compatible with FSX?
Where do you get them? (Please list link)
What characteristics (if any apply) are missing? (Example, messed up VC, 2D, .gau's missing, Parts showing up as black, etc.)

Thanks!

I wondered if the F-14 works alright in FSX, after having read this in the developer's SDK (copied directly):

"[folding wings]
This section describes the folding wing characteristics of the aircraft. Note that these are folding wings used to store an aircraft more compactly when on the ground, or on deck, and not the variable sweep wings used on some supersonic aircraft. Variable sweep wings are not supported in Flight Simulator X."

So, am wondering if the wings still move, even on the FS9-imported ones (presuming developing any new VG model for FSX is out of the question).

a) SimV FS2004 military aircraft.

b) Sweeping wings were never supported by any version of FS. The model designers "cheated" by linking the sweeping wings to the flaps. This actually works better than just a "sweep forwards/backwards" toggle, since you can build in serveral wing positions.
Plus, by being connected to the flaps, the wings can automatically introduce drag.

Well, do we look like online-encyclopedias? No.

So have a go at trial-and-error. ;)

a) You requested things that no one here knew exactly and we gave you some hints.

b) I'm not willing to search every FS site out there to do stuff that you could have done on your own.

c) You won't get far without using your grey cells on the internet or in the FS world.

P.S: You can poke me as much as you want. But always be prepared for an appropriate response from my side...

If this was meant to be sarcasitc, you forgot the indicating smiley.

If not, this is for you: Do it on your own.
