;)

Not that it is a big deal.... but did anyone notice that on EVERY corporate or airline aircraft that ships with FSX (except for the CRJ) the captain is either a black dude or a white lady...

it would have been a neat feature to pick and choose your pilot's character model... kinda like on the "SIMS" you could pick and choose characters who just sort of looked like you look in real life.

just an observation

Roger that . . . especially when one considers the texture-folder structure in FSX as compared to FS9
FSX has the pilots (only one file) for every  repaint of a given model; thus, ALL the aircraft of a given type use the same crews.

The crew texture is only located in the root texture folder; all the other textures: texture.1; texture.2, etc., call this pilot file by way of the texture.cfg file contained in these additional folders.

This is why the crews are (apparently) so limited in FSX.
P.S. Also note this root-texture folder is three-times the size (13.7MB compared to 5MB) of the numbered textured folders.

forgot about the airbus - some old white dude drives it LOL  ::)

but some of these airline drivers have beards - thats another no no in pretty much all part 121 airline operations... something about the oxygen mask not seating to your face properly during decompression related emergencies. (way to do your homework MS)

and all the GA pilots all look like old hippies or red neck weekend warriors.

Just my opinions here. but it really would have been nice to have the ability to select your pilot's character model.

Well, maybe it's time you dug out the old paint program and got to work:

im not that tweaked about it to sit there and modify every texture.

Just stating that it would be nice if you had a feature in FSX like you do in sims to cycle through heads and torsos and different hats hair styles shirts coats etc. instead of going into some texture file and modifying everything. thanks though... whats the file name - perhaps some time i will get to it...  ;D

Questions:

1) Is the pilots file for the 737 in the aircrafts texture folder & called "Pilots_737.dds" or is it somewhere else ?
2) If this dds file is the texture what program can be used to repaint it ?

Thanks

That would be it.

2) If this dds file is the texture what program can be used to repaint it ?

DXTBmp can open & save textures in the DDS format. http://www.mnwright.btinternet.co.uk/programs/dxtbmp.htm
Use a conventional graphics editor for the actual repainting. MS Paint will do if you have nothing better.

you can also get the Nvidia (also ati has one) DSS plugin for photoshop.... you can find it in the developers tools section of the Nvidia site.... lets you open DDS files directly in PS... discarding the mipmaps.... and save them in several variants... ie 32,24 RGB,16 bit,DXT5 3 &1 and other such things....

compairing FSX and the sims is like compairing apples and volvos.....

I was showing off FSX to a neighbor who pointed out tha the glider dude is almost my double. Just a little more gray than I am. Sort of what I'll look like in ten years or so.  ;D
