FsX Compatible Gauges, Please Help

Postby Recency » Mon Jan 15, 2007 8:52 pm

Has anyone discovered how to make FS98 and FS2002 Gauges compatible with FsX flight simulator? Or does anyone know how to eliminate the incompatibility warning sign from Fsx simulator? Is there a special file that can be downloaded that will get rid of that incompatibility sign and make the gauges compatible with FSX?

As far as I know there is no way to make them compatible, because of coding but I'm not sure. I think we will just have to wait for designers to make model using FS8*, FS9, and FSX gauges :-?
*(not all FS2002 gauges work)

:'(Well thankyou for the advice, although its not really the advice I want to here.  There are so many nicely made panels that have FS98 Gauges such as the F16 Tomcat panel. I guess I can make my own panels and insert the fsx gauges and try to make it through the time consuming process thats involved. However I am hoping that someone else may know the solution to the gauge compatibility problem.

There is no solution for the issue you raise.  FS98 gauges are simply not compatible with FSX - this was a conscious decision on the part of MS.  FS98 was released in the fall of 1997.  Given the development time involved, the file structure used in these gauges is 10 years old.

Recency, I SHARE YOUR FRUSTRATION.

I did get some tips on this, but right now my only success was placing the old .gau files with the panel (in panel folder, not all worked)
My PC Specs:

OS:
Windows Vista Home Premium (x32)

Hardware:
-ASUS P5N32-E SLI Motherboard
-Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 Processor
-EVGA NVIDIA GeForce 8800GTS Video Card
-Western Digital 250GB Hard Drive
-PATR

ThankYou for the advice. I will try that. Someone has indicated that there is no solution but I still think that there is. If some of the FS98 Gauges work or are compatible in

ThankYou for the advice. I will try that. Someone has indicated that there is no solution but I still think that there is. If some of the FS98 Gauges work or are compatible in  FS2004 then they should work in FSX. I think it may be just a matter of changing the dates on the gauges but don't know how to do that as of yet.

FS98 hauges did work in FS9 however they are no longer supported in FSX.
You'd be better off spending your time finding replacements for those FS98 gauges
or designing your own that waste time looking for a soulution where there is none.
Also, be aware that all .gau files are not necessarily FS98 gauges. There are many
.gau files that do work in FSX but the ones that ARE FS98 gauges flat will not work.
