Some question

Some question

Postby Car Guy » Mon Jan 08, 2007 8:36 pm

Hello, I just bought the new Microsoft Flight simulator X and love it! I have a couple questions though. I've done some research and found that there are a more planes in the game than there are right now for me in the free flight section of the game. I've only got 18 right now and was wondering how you get the other planes? I'm assuming you have to complete a certain number of missions?

Also, I downloaded an add on plane for the game and extracted the files to my desktop. I was wondering if one of you could explain to me what you do from there to get the plane into the game? Thank you.

Welcome to SimV.

I answer to question 1 - it sounds like you have the standard version of FSX, with 18 aircraft. To have the extra three you'd need to purchase FSX Deluxe.

Question 2. Most files will have a readme file which should explain where to put things. Basically, for an FSX specific download, and depending on the complexcity of the download, the aircraft folder itself goes in the FSX/SimObjects/Airplanes folder, gauges in the FSX/gauges folder etc etc. This is a very simple explanation - I think it is better described with pictures in a "sticky" thread somewhere...

Thanks for the reply, I suppose seeing how it is done would be easier for me since I'm having trouble still getting the add on plane into the game. I will search the site to see if I can come up with anything that helps me, thanks again.

It's certainly not something easily described in words... :)
