HI
I am afraid that your PC is a little slow to run FSX, in all the hardware parts.
I can tell you that i have a pc 2 years old
P4 3Ghz
1Gig Ram
ATI/Sapphire X1600XT 256 Mb
With this rig, i can not run FSX at the max setting, NOBODY CAN DO THIS..... for now, but with tweeks on the cfg file and the setting in a low configuration, i can run smooth enough for me.
The slowliness of the opening of the sim, seems to be normal and i don't think that a new Vcard will help, maybe more ram can do or a faster processor...

in the first place im amazed you could actualy get it all running, seems like your rig is just above the bare minimums to start the program up, so im afraid you cant really do a lot except buying a new rig.

naw hes should be fine, after i fried 512 mb of my ram in a power surge i got left with 700 something worth of it. Microsoft lists the "bare" minimum of FSX on XP to be 216. I personally set weather to minimal and everything else to low. But i set autogen density to normal and i am pleased with how it looks....
