Thought I would stick this up as we are starting to see issues with installing acft. to FSX and some problems, like panel.bmps and gauges not showing.

Remember, there are TWO different

yeah - i havnt tried any additional aircraft yet. probably wont for another week or so, but if there is an issue of compatability with FSX and FSX deluxe then there should certainly be two seperate download areas for eaither version on simV. Either that or the creators should communicate that their aircraft was designed for and tested on ___ edition or both editions etc.

I'm not sure this will be an issue. It's only a suspicion as we've been here before with FS2000 & FS2002. It wasn't really a big problem but it could explain why gauges aren't showing up for some people. I was very disappointed to see they'd gone back to 2 different versions of FSX after getting it right with FS9.*

I saw it mentioned somewhere about pasting copies of default gauges from the Panel folders of default aircraft into FSX\Gauges. Not sure if this is necessary for some 3rd party panels to work properly.

* Please note, this is a simple observation. I don't want to start WWIII. :P ::) ;)

You are right Hagar. It would be a simple fix if this is or becomes an issue with acft. installation. A download of the various gauges that are "Extras" from the FSX Delux version.

This was just meant to make pilots aware of a POTENTIAL problem...........

Ah no, I didn't say that. :o I don't think it would be legal. :P

With FS2000 & FS2002 it was general practice for the author of the files to state in the file description if they were suitable for the Pro (or Deluxe in FSX) version only.

I'm really searching my memory and will be corrected quickly, I'm sure  :P

Wasn't the Concorde (and its gauge file) a FS2002Pro only deal ?  And wasn't it quickly common and accepted practice to share that gauge ?

Hagar is right. It was a horrible decision to go back to the two edition thing. Especially with so  much of the sim's success built on freeware add-ons and the dependency on "default" gauges. Makes you wonder what they were thinking  ::)

What I've done is to install several but dofferemt models of addon-on FSX aircraft which I've successfuly downloaded and simply alias addtional models of similar design. For example:  Twin wing mounted aircraft such as B737, AB321, and others of similar design use one type panel and gauges, thru alias. Twin rear engines aircraft aliased together and four wing mounted models aliased. As newer and better panels and sounds are introduced, it won't be difficult to incorporate them to the collection. Does this make sense?

Yeah.. the fact that it's downloadable all over the place (concorde gauge) left me remembering that it was left out of one of the versions.. else we'd all have it.

And yes too re: FS9 gauges. I just went ahead and put all the FS9 gauges in my FSX gauge folder, not replacing duplicates.

This still puzzles me. I already have Concorde.gau included by default in FS2000, CFS2, FS2002 Pro & FS9. I just confirmed that Concorde was featured in both editions of FS2000 so the gauge must also have been included in both. ::)

Wise to be careful as I suspect this could easily cause conflicts.

No doubt, but sorting them out (conflicts) is easier (for me) than going through the panel.cfg and making sure every gauge is there for a d-load  or  FS9 plane that "works" in FSX..

Yeah ..lol.. we're gonna have fun this year..

Let me RE-emphasize (in case anyone is foolish enough to listen to me).. DO not "replace" anything if you DO paste your FS9 gauges into FSX.
