No Gauges

Postby Bob70 » Sat Dec 30, 2006 6:34 pm

Where are the gages? I downloaded and installed this airplane.

FSX Cessna C206H Stationair V2.0 This is a North American Registry (N206RX) re-paint of the Cessna C206H Stationair VERSION 2.0 (Complete Aircraft) by Blue Sky Simulations, Roger Bonne & GUIDEE Francois-Denis. VERSION 2.0 has been reworked after reports of a few errors in the files. ALL ERRORS HAVE BEEN CORRECTED! This model has been throughly flight tested and flys like a dream! All textures are rendered in DXT-3 format for crisp texturing without sacrificing frame rates. Originally modeled for FS2004, this rendition of the sturdy aircraft has been modified to work within the FS-X platform. Includes customized panel and sound package by Peter Spanakos. Both an analog and Garmin G1000 glass panel versions have been included. Brian C. Selb 16.8MB

I had trouble with the sound also, but got that working by using the sound files from a Cessna 182.  How do I get a set of gages. I didn't have these kind of problems with installing addons in FS9 as I'm having with FSX. Thanks for any help anyone can give me.

Bob

Hi Bob. I downloaded the file to check it out for you. It looks to me that quite a few gauges are missing from the package. Some of these could well be FS9 default gauges not included with FSX. I'm using the FSX Demo so I'm not sure which gauges are included with the full version & the fact that there are two different versions of FSX complicates this even further.

I had trouble with the sound also, but got that working by using the sound files from a Cessna 182.

The sound problem is easy to explain. You should find a separate folder named SOUND in the Airplanes folder alongside the Stationair. Paste this into the FSX\SimObjects\airplanes folder as the Stationair sound.cfg is aliased to it. I don't know why it's been configured like this. It would have been much easier to include the files in the Sound folder of the aircraft in the usual way.

I didn't have these kind of problems with installing addons in FS9 as I'm having with FSX.

I think this is due to inexperience by the authors of the files. Just a matter of bad luck really.

Many 2004 downloads use gauges from FS9/FS8 and such... and are no longer supported...

those files from ealier downloads that will work are the XML ones...

you will need to alias pannels from the defult planes untill FSX compliant updates are available....

in the pannels.config remove what is there and add this....

alias=(add defult aircraft file here)\panel

That shouldn't be the case here. This one is supposed to have been updated for FSX complete with panels & gauges. -->

Thanks for the help. It's all making sense now. I think I'll just hold off downloading anything till FSX gets it's act together. The few airplanes I have managed to install have been a hassle.

I downloaded the acft. from Hagar's link to the acft. Assuming this is the right one, which I did,  ;) it works just fine if installed correctly.

Sound worked fine and gauges worked fine.

Here is how I installed manually, which you should always do. Author states to "Navigate to blah blah blah". NO!

Navigate through his folders until you come to TWO folders: Gauges and SimObjects.  In the "Gauges" folder you find two gauges, c206.gau and mp.gau. Put both of these gauges into your FSX-Gauges Folder.

Now go back to the "SimObjects" folder of the download. In there you find an "Airplanes" folder, in there you find two folders, "C_206 Stationair N206RX" folder AND "Sound" folder.

Take the "C_206 Stationair N206RX" folder and place this one in your FSX/SimObjects/Airplanes folder.

Go back to the "Sound" folder of the download. In this folder you see a "C182-RG" folder. <<<
Now when you fire up FSX, in acft. selection, select "Cessna". Select either of your two C 206 Stationair acft., when you do, it will give you a message about "Publisher could not be verified". Hit the "Run" tab, then hit "Yes". This adds the two gauges you installed for this acft. to a "Trusted" section in your fsx.cfg file. After that initial set up of those gauges, you won't get that warning again if you select this acft.

Enjoy.......and nice acft. too!

Hey Hagar, I understand what you are saying about the sound issue, but the creator has this acft. set up to be installed the way I explained. The acft's "sound.cfg" file has this entry....

[fltsim]
alias=SOUND\C182-RG

You are right Hagar on the Sound issue. If I were to keep this acft. I would just place the sounds directly into the acft.'s sound folder itself.

I only explained it that way as this is how the creator has set the acft. up to be installed.

Sorry to be pedantic but I still say that SOUND folder should be installed to FSX\SimObjects\airplanes. :P Anyway, that's besides the point.

Now Bob70, as far as there not being any gauges for you, I don't know. Did you do a full install of FSX or a Custom install? I am wondering if this might have anything to do with it.

Other than those two gauges, it uses the default FSX gauges from the .dll files. This is a new format for gauges for FSX....right Hagar? And yours was the first acft. I have downloaded so it can't be that I have any EXTRA gauges that are needed. The only thing left that I can think of is something is wrong in the acft.'s panel.cfg you have or maybe if you didn't do a complete install.........don't know if that is it....just trying to think of what could be different from you and me, other than I am probably better looking........ ;) ;D

You would know more about me than me that as I'm still using the Demo which has a very limited set of gauges. Bob didn't say which version of FSX he has. If you remember this caused problems with some default gauges not being included with FS2002 Standard Edition.

There's something strange about this aircraft. I checked the panel out in the trial version of FS Panel Studio & the DVC works as advertised. This is what I get in FSX. Complete blank.

I'm not convinced it's worth bothering with. :-/

Damn, I forgot about the "Standard" and "Deluxe" version. I got the Deluxe version. Check the gauges folder Bob and see what you don't have. Maybe I can send it to you.

Also, did you say a "Repaint". Is that what you installed....a repaint? Maybe we took off on an entirely different tangent............YIKES!

And Hagar, I will never dispute your wisdom........I learned you are the Master and one would do good to listen to you........you are sooooo right, especially with this statement...."You would know more about me than me ........"

LMAO, I DO know more about you than you. I still like you anyway.  ;D

I think we can assume the majority of users here have the full version of FSX. A demo is just that - a demo - by definition incomplete.

I would suggest to anyone with the demo version - shell out & get the complete thing. There is no point in posting questions about the demo - it's not FSX - just a mere taster.

Edit:

Houston we have a problem.

(delux version of course - & FSX D lacking several of the FS9 gauges pointed to in the panel.cfg)

Image

I see the guy has (just as you guys have said) included FS9 gauges into the VCockpit element in the panel.cfg - in other words he has not included gauges.

I shall fix this somehow. We don't do incomplete files here at the 'V'  ;)

(We probably need to make a file with some essential FS9 gauges to add to the Gauges folder in FSX - so people won't have thi s problem in future)

AFAIK I'm the only one here with the Demo Pete. I'm not forking out 60 quid for something I can't use simply to help troubleshoot other people's problems. :P
Bill Leaming tells me that the Demo is basically the same as the full version so I can use it for simple things like checking files out.
