Need quick help.

Hi.
I'm new to the forums, and FSX, and I'm trying to install a new aircraft in the game (a Eurofighter Typhoon), and I've read the guide found here on
www.simviation.com.
However, whereas it states there that there should be a folder named 'Aircraft' around the top when you click on your game, which branches into four categories, there is no such file containing all aircraft, and smaller files that comes to that.
Could I please get some help?
On beforehand, thanks.

FSX is set up a little different than previous version of Flight Simulator.
There is an Aircraft folder, in FSX they call it "Airplanes" and it is located in the "SimObjects" folder in the MAIN FSX folder.
Good luck.

No, I'm afraid it doesn't work...
I found the file, and extracted the files into it, but it doesn't show up in the game...
Could somebody please provide me with a short step-by-step guide specifically for FSX?
Thanks.

Well, it's for FS2004, and I've seen everywhere, including interviews with developers that they are FSX compatible...

Only thing i can suggest without having access to FSX, is that you check the developers comments on the websites for making it work in FSX

I don't have FSX, so I can't be too specific, but:
1) Look through the FSX posts here, there might be something that can help.
2) Try another aircraft that also is FSX specific.
3) Watch this post, there are those here who should be able to help.

Hi. It would help to know which Typhoon & the exact page it's posted on so someone can check it out for you.
Apart from a few slight differences with default folder names, installing aircraft to FSX is basically no different from any other version of MSFS.

I am going to take a shot in the dark, ::) but check the Sound folder of the acft. you just installed into FSX. Look at the sound.cfg file, open it with notepad. If it says the sound is aliased to an acft., then there is your problem.
There are different ways to handle this, you can alias the sound to another acft. you have in FSX, IF it works like 2004 which I see no reason it shouldn't, or you can place a complete sound folder from one of your jets in FS2004 or FSX in the Typhoon's acft. folder.
There are tutorials on aliasing sound to another acft., installing acft. and such here at Simviation and at Grumpy's Lair.

Probably a long shot but make sure that what you extracted into the Airplanes folder is the one with the other folders inside it like "Panel", "Sound", "Model" and "Texture". Make sure that this isn't inside another folder.

Just to follow up MattNW.
You'll be more safe if you unzip installs into a temp folder. Then copy the plane, gauges, effect a.o. into the right folders in the game. This way you are in control.
Have tried a lot of planes from fs9 (not typhoon). Some are doing ok, but others are giving big trubles in sound, textures and gauges. Newer planes exp. with a cab file in the panel should do, but you cant be certain.
Good luck tho.
