Hi - Hola - Bonjour,

I am going to go NUCKING FUTS if I don't figure this out soon.

For the past week I have been trying to locate an awsome aircraft carrier.  I know what your going to say: go to KSFO or TNCM.  I want to find out if there are any carriers like to one in tutorial 9 (same in tutorial 12).  This craft moved, kicking it up a notch!  Does this and/or any other carrier exist in FSX (within free flight).  I know this is a wanted answer by some others, so anyone that knows something please help. ;D ;D

... I also fould a carrier docked in Norfolk, VA.
(Can you land on any other ship traffic like tankers or cruseliners?)
(Also where exactly are the "to be" oil drilling platforms?)

well i don't know about carriers but to your question about landing on tankers, etc. I'm sorry but the answer is no.I already tryed to land on one but i just go through (bell helicopter).

YES, all the ships are landable...

...some of them even have alittle helipad on there FOR you to land.

And what do you mean by "to be" oil platforms? I would start looking around Galvaston...where else?

Thanks for the responses guys.  As far as landing on ships, I have only found ships in port not at sea.  My experiences say that you always go right through them. If not, why not?  Im still a noob with exploring in free flight, so I don't know of many points of interest.  ;D ;D

The deal with the oil rigs was random - only a question of wether they were cool little things you could fly around or only mission items I guess.

Someone will have to assembly a team of aircraft carrier spotters because for all the braging microsoft is doing,  so far the sim (although a great step up from fs9) seems like bloatware with outrageous hardware demands.

Im still open to replies so its ok to post.  -Thx

Call me slow...   I have seen this carrier before (HMSNZ Waikato) so after the reccomendation I decided what the heck, Ill get it.  I downloaded it and after installing it (in fs9, I don't want to use fsx first) and finding out where it was I tried looking for it.  I COULDN'T FIND IT.  I looked for a good 3 hours but still nothing.  If I could get the coordinates that it is at, I will look there.  If its not there than I know it may be an install problem.  If you can help at all, please feel free to do so.

To find Waikato ....... in the Airports page bullet the search in addon scenery, Waikato will be there as an airport, assuming you have activated the scenery in the scenery library and restarted your sim.

Try eno's method first, it ought to work:  The Waikato is NZWA.  If no luck:

The coords are S36*30.19   E174*54.96:

NZAA, Auckland: Runway 5R or 5L (I think), with an initial takeoff heading of 96*, set course about 26* (go easy to port).

Or: NZWP, Whenuapai (Military):  Heading 45* should take you straight to it (I think).

I think you can slew out to the coordinates, but I've never tried that way.

OKAY GUYS TIME OUT HERE ! You all might be forgetting that every scenery has a level of denseity that has to be on in order for you to see it, so make sure you scenery is set past that point. If you have not changed it after the initial install the chances are it is set at low or medium so if the carriers need the setting to be at high and above you will never see it in a millon years. 8)

The USS Indy (Indianapolis) prevented FS02 from loading.  When removed, FS02 was OK again.  There may also have been a problem with FS04, just can't remember, I think it didn't show (even with sliders maxed).  I suppose I might be doing something wrong, but no time to research this.  I've had very few if any problems with FS02 with addons, so it doesn't matter.
