I just got a Email from Tigerdirect Nvida has just relased its new GEFORCE 8800 GTX video Card. But I would not jump on the band wagon just yet better make sure your bank account can handle this expense. Ok sit down grab your wallet and hold on they start at $499.99 and top out at $659.99.OUCH THAT HURTS MY POCKET BOOK Both of these cards are PCI EXPRESS SLI The cheaper card has a Core clock of 500MHZ and a memory clock of 1.6 gig.
If you want to see it jump over to www.tigerdirect.com select VIDEO CARDS from the side menu then select NVIDA and SLI PCI EXPRESS these are some awesome cards. But boy talk about hitting the old pocket book. 8)

I have $1000 on my account...I could shell out enough for the BFGTech 8800GTX...But I won't...Although they are awesome, I'll wait for DX10 to actually come out before I buy one ;)

i just saw a test that gamespot did on the g88 and it beat all the other cards and it was even close to 2 $1000.00 dollar cards, i been saying about buying the 7950 gx2 but 8800gtx is so much better and is only one card, i had to change my mind. i sure love technology.

Lets see...

We should spend a rediculous amount of money on a video card than has no full support in both OS and games as of yet and HOPE there are no hardware bugs that may require the next production run of cards to fix...

yes, this makes sense

I must buy one now.

Wait until VISTA and DX10 has been established before you spend/waste your money. It will be March before we will know what works and what doesnt.

But Nick, if these guys with all the extra cash lying around don't go out and buy the stuff now....... who is going to do all the "free beta testing" so that the manufacturers are able to find and get all the hardware and software bugs out for those of us that are smart and wait ?   ;)

best,

......john

Below is a clip about the warranty for this board

Today NVIDIA announced the hard launch and immediate availability of our new flagship GeForce 8800 GPUs. Some recent reports on the web mention a BOM error (wrong resistor value) on initial GeForce 8800 GTX boards. All boards with this problem were purged from the production pipeline. Product on shelves is fully qualified and certified by NVIDIA and its board partners. We and our board partners stand behind these products and back them with our full warranty. 8)

Keep you pants on fellows. I had a problem with textures and the major feeling was that it was the video card. I found out different.

*Sigh* I guess I am a beta tester just because I happen to be using x16 Anti-Aliasing, and actually have good EXELLENT AF, the Geforce 7 does AF terribly compared to it. I bought this card for the outstanding performance in all aspects, and the future DX10 support. Whoever buys a 8800GTX and buys it ONLY for DX10 now is an idiot.

Sure I could of waited, but I want outstanding performance NOW in DX9, not when the R600 gets launched., and I don't give a stuff how much it costs.

Personally, I don't really give a stuff how much things cost, as long as I get good perf.

I guess Astronauts are also beta testers.

yep.. your a beta tester..

I have no problems with G71 core... run it flat out and on high quality without any issues ijn FS9 or FSX.

I hope it works out for you.. you are enjoying the higher performance many wont see for a while. If DX10 loads and runs without issues, your all set.

;D

I'm curious if the cost of these new cards will actually increase in cost when Vista and DX10 are established?

I bought my GTS for about 50$ more than the average X1950XTX and 7900GTX. For that, I get:

16x Anti-Aliasing with the hit of X4 Anti-Aliasing

Anisotropic filtering far more advanced than any Geforce 6 / 7, and better than the ATI X1k series.

Some extra VRAM (which helps with fsX's HUUUUGEEEE textures).

Performance usually better than X1950XTX with these really new drivers.

Direct X 10 (Even if the R600 will friggen own it).

I'm curious if the cost of these new cards will actually increase in cost when Vista and DX10 are established?

Doubt it. It will most likely decrease when ATI hits the market. THEN $500 for a 8800GTS would be a TOTAL RIP!

Hooray for 7900GTX and X1950XTX  ::)
