Co-pilot.. WHAT FUN !

My cousin and I just did some multi-player flying in the Baron..

He hosted and I joined.. and joined HIS plane... I selected the "right seat" from the cockpit right-click popup.. and was a virtual co-pilot.

We set the weather for 2 mile visibilty and  flew a few IFR legs.. Jus tlike we've done  for real (not in a Baron though). He flew the plane and I navigated.. calling out headings and altitudes and I helped keep an eye on the instruments so he'd not fatigue too much trying to keep from turning upside down  :o

I worked the nav radios.. and when it came time to land.. took care of the "GUMPS" and kept an eye on the HSI.. prodding him when he drifted (like we've done for real)

Pretty fun stuff seeing the runway appear just at decision height  ;)

Then we switched roles and shot about a dozen approaches..

We even took turns landing from the right seat (you can turn control over to each other)..

TOO MUCH FUN !

Nice! I tried it but couldnt get it to work...

EDIT: Now if somebody would agree to test it with me, I'd be more than happy to accept (I have been known to land at over 200MPH on ocassions  ::))

I'm game too..

Just to note.. if you couldn't get it to work..

If you plan on joining an airplane  DO NOT enable aircraft sharing on your end..  Only the person who is sharing the plane needs to enable it... else you can't click on their "join aircraft" button..(if your sharing is enabled)

**sorry.. I aint had my coffee yet ***

Gimme a time mates!? That 200MPH landing was in a 1 mile approach from 25,000ft in a B17 (Shockwave productions) Gunnerman about had a heart attack when I nosed it and abruptly came slamming down on my tail.... I didnt crash either..... though there was a LOT of smoke!

" Just like we've done  for real (not in a Baron though)"

Roger that . . . the closest I ever came was riding rightseat-spotter while the PIC was shooting missed-apps in a B-58

Does that count?   :)

Thanks for the tip, Brett . . . sounds like fun. That's what it's all about.

And I would not be far from imagining "virtual flying schools" ?

How soon will someone set up "Virtual Training Command" ... . Learn to fly in a DH TIger Moth, move up to a Harvard and then let Ozzy fly you in a two seat Spit!

Aint it the best? My friend and I flew a route in the Global Airways C208 in the Sahara. We switched off flying every half an hour or so, I had the right seat. We logged about 2.5 hours doing that, it was fun. There was a lot of turbulence though, almost crashed..;)...

I would love to do co-pilot with someone. Name a time, and I'm there! A virtual flight school would be fun, start with the Cessna 172 in the rental scheme, then work youre way up the line. My order would be:

Cessna 172
DeHavilland(?) Beaver
Cessna 208
Baron 58
King Air 350

Then to the civil jets, then big heavies. Could do the same thing with the helicopters.

I don't think its a bad idea really. I can fly helos in FSX (Finally, you dont just spin in circles) Could log a few hours making your instructor wet their pants
