Can anyone point me at some tutorials that describe the layout of the A321 and 737-800 gauges?

Can't find anything remotely useful in the FSX documentation!

Have you tryed the learning center yet? They explain most function pretty indepth.

glas cockpit is just like watching TV  

no you have the basic displays thats called a PFD in a boeing and MFD in a Airbus dont ask why its just the way it is  ::)  on the Top PFD which is primary flight display, you have you basic T, with altimeter and all that stuff

the one below or next to it depends on what plane you are flying, is a ND navigation display,  and you can make you PFD show on your ND and vice versa at least in the real life it can.. I dont know about FSX since Im just installing it now.. But Im sure that it says something about glas cockpit in the learning center.. if not give me a PM and I'll give you some hints

Learning centre is almost pointless. Know everything in there and it doesn't refer to the PFD/MFD, ND or EICAS screen layouts.

I really just want to know what the small circle (with the swinging arm) at top right of the PFD is and what the giant swinging pointer on the A321 ND rose is? It always seems to point north-south.

Any ideas?

The "swinging" arm sounds like a AoA gauge, this is your angle of attack indicator.


The "giant" swinging pointer on the A321 ND is probably a VOR needle (or" Bearing pointer")

well this is new...

for a long time boeing and airbus couldnt agree on the color black  ???  

but being a mechanic as I am.. I used to the little wierd twists in aviation... like french helicopters  ::)  

Haha yes, Airbus and Boeing tend to see things from different perspectives.
The whole thing with these accronyms are pretty confusing. The centre displayscreen in a Boeing 737 is actually called MFD.

I bet those people that invents all those accronyms gets paid big bucks  :-/
