View centering glitch

Postby omar777 » Sun Oct 22, 2006 4:13 am

I dont know if other ppl have noticed with the demos and the final version, when compared to FS9, the cockpit and VC views arent matching if you move the view to either side so theres a gap that you cant see for a bit until you fly past it. Is this to simulate the windscreens blind spots from the window frames?
Also if you center the view using the switch hat it never really centers, its off skew a tad bit and i have to hit CTRL+Space to get it perfectly center, anyone notice that? Are these intentional, if so anyone know why? If not, how can we fix it?
thanks in advance! :)

I think MS added the cockpit later and build the plane with the VC in mind, though i wouldnt why.

There should be a EYEPOINT section under the aircraft.cfg, you can move the viewpoint around with that on eacht of the axis.

I find that problem when I'm just outside of being dead-on center.  My fix was to go at least 45 degrees away from center, and then swing it back, trying to land on center...I hope that made sense.

I thought that they would have fixed this after the demo... but what really gets me is that if in VC mode you swing your view round using your hat button, in FS2004 you could hit the space bar and the view would flick back to the front, but in FSX when you hit the space bar it swings the view round to some ridiculous angle like towards the roof. Then, by the time you've fiddled with the hat to try and get it back to the front, if you're flying manually usually you're then hurtling at some crazy angle towards the ground.

Like the say, it's the little things....

I also find that paging through the views using the 'S' button is a total pain. I liked paging through the 2D and 3D cockpits - if you're wanting to change an AP setting it's nigh impossible in VC view with some planes (try the Airbus). Also if I want 'artistic' views, I like to set them up myself. I don't want pre-set pics of the ruddy undercarriage or the wing tip set up by someone else.

PS

Just noticed Omar77's first posting - does Ctrl-space now centre the forward view in VC then? Have to find out.

Since the space bar is now used to enable "mouse look", shift + delete is now the default keys to center the cockpit views.

Or backspace, as it always did too in FS9 :).

Errr...in FS9 default, the BACKSPACE was set to select the Zoom and set it back to 1x, not to center the view as SPACEBAR ;)
