If it hadn't had been for this forum FSX would have been a dud. With all the tweaks that have been posted on here i now have fsx running at 25fps on ultra high high settings. I know this has been mentioned but for those interested i'll just mention the few that i think are most important.
FIBER_FRAME_TIME_FRACTION=0.25
TEXTURE_BANDWIDTH_MULT=400
WideViewAspect=True
TERRAIN_MAX_AUTOGEN_TREES_PER_CELL=2300
TERRAIN_MAX_AUTOGEN_BUILDINGS_PER_CELL=1300
Also do not use the antiliasing option in the game itself, if you're video card control panel has the option of setting antiliasing do it there!
Last of all be patient, if you carefully read all the messages posted in here you can get FSX to work a treat and in my opinion it is better than FS9.
Don't just install it, run it and then bag the crap out of it, you need to play with it for at least a couple of hours to find the settings that suit your machine.

im personally still not getting aove 20 unless im crusing at over 7000 AGL, and am not shure why, with an AMD athelon 64 x2, 2 gigs of ram, and a nividia geforce 7900 GT i should be pulling 25 easy. yet people with rigs with less ram and older videocards are pulling 25 better then me ??? lol I love FSX but still dont quite understand the frame rate issues ;D btw i have tryed all the tweeks.

Have you tried settting your 7900 video driver settings in "Performance" mode ? Also, some users reported some performance improvement after driver upgrade (and some said the the very latest driver was no as fine as the previous one, as well)...

If you are running dual core, I believe that if you set the program to Infinity in the task manager, turn it back to normal, then it should begin utilizing both cores...

Im running a AMD 3800 and am getting good frames.
There is a note in the read me about AMD processors, and Nvidia cards.
Applying the tweaks above is what gave me the greatest improvement in frame rates, I have yet to try the processor tweak as I don't seem to need it. I also find that the newest updated Nvidia driver with the FSX SLi profile is buggered. I am speaking of the 91.47 that was re-released 10-17-06, the previous 91.47 works great in my case.
Using SLi anti aliasing on my 7800 GTs give me the best in performance and image quality so far.
But it is obvious that this release is far more specific to the rig your running than FS9, so many with comparable rigs setup with the same settings getting totally different results. Boggles the mind and is the tweakers dream
