DX10 for XP?

Postby Joe_D » Mon Oct 16, 2006 10:46 am

The "inquirer" seems to think so.

http://www.theinquirer.net/default.aspx?article=35110

I don't know what this will mean.
If trure, perhaps you can have a dedicated DX10 sys with XP to run FSX?

Keep in mid though that DX10 is not backwards compatable with previous DX10 versions and XP will not surport DX9 as well as DX10 as VISTA will.

P.S.
I posted this in the FSX fourm as it seems to concern primarily FSX users.

Perhaps what MS really means is only VISTA will support (the non backwards compatable) DX10 along with DX9 simultaniously?

Let's not forget that if you install DX 10 (whatever it is called) in XP, you can no longer run any app that needs DX9

Tabloids? M$?
You need to be psychic to know who is telling the truth.
M$ does not exactly have a good track record of telling the whole truth 100% of the time! ;)

Anyway, it will be interesting how all this pans out.

Neither do the tabloids. And they're never even close to be even 1% truthful. ;D

What the article is saying is that the upcoming directX 9.L will allow XP to run direct X 10 programs

So when will the nVidia Geforce 8800 GTX and GTS cards be released? And will they also be compatible with XP?
