I know I've seen this before somewhere for FS9, but I can't seem to find the solution.  I get the preview for about 2 seconds, then it goes completely black.  There's no problem in game, but I get no preview at all...

Wasn't it linked to the Anti-Aliasing setting in FS9 ?
Like, if it was set too high (more than 4x), the preview would not show anymore... or was it the Ansotropic filtering Can't remember

AA for FS9 for sure...
try to lower your AA, and if it works, then we have the first valuable trick for FSX!!!!

Same happens to me in FS9

the demo didnt do that to me with the same settings I ran FS9 in (AA/AF wise), however, I guarntee its AA related, turn it off or down low.... it'll work (Most likely if its like FS9) if not.... I guess its a thing to deal with! Cheers, Gunny

You might also try this, it's what I do, jump out of full screen mode and you can see the aircraft.. (return to windowed mode - if you know it as this ..i.e. alt + enter) select aircraft then go back into full screen mode again.. For me it's an AA in the driver Issue if I turn it down I dont have the problem, but it doesnt look as good imho.  I'd rather have it turned up in the driver and use this workaround.. let us know how you get on..

Looks more like a compatibility issue rather than a bug since Kevin mentioned that only the addon planes are having this problem. In which case, the current addon may not have been designed to work with FSX.

It's ALL add-ons, not just the one...

Do you have a filename for the Vought F2G-1 addon for FSX with *.dds texture files?

Does it do it when the sim is in windowed mode?

Try it full screen ( I expect this is what you are in) then try it in windowed view to see if that solves it.
