About the tower view

Hi all,

A simple question to those who could try the FSX demo: Is there still a tower view ? And if yes:
- what are the functionnal differences (if any) with the tower view of FS9 ?
- is the tower view FINALLY placed correctly on an airport ? (= in the real tower ?)

I have been thinking about that when I saw again recently the FSX shots about the ATC controller feature of FSX deluxe, and thought it would be cool ifthe tower view could be located in the tower with the same details...

Well one glitch atleast i have is that in tower view the aircraft nav lights seem to get separated from the plane by about 20 feet. If by in tower you meen see through glass and stuff, no. But as you fly around and you get closer tpo another airport the game automaticly switches the tower view to that airport.

Thanks for the answer :)

Ok, just like FS9. But where is the view located ? I understood you said you were not seing through the tower windows, but is the view at least located "near" the airport tower, or is it still in those dumb positions like FS9 ? (like 1 km from the airport)

It seems to be a little more on the mark ;)

Even in FS 2004 you can put the tower view anyplace you want. You can't see through the windows of the tower but you can put it right on top. Just open the default map and drag the little tower object to the place you want it to be. On the left side is a box you can add the tower elevation.

I know that, but it's something you would have to do each time you reach an airport or start a new flight, just because the default tower view positions in FS9 were completely stupid. So I was hoping the tower view in FSX were correctly located by default, which seems to be the case...

Don't worry. When you get the deluxe, "some" of your wishes will come true. ;D

The tower view is pertty much right next to the actual tower...

...far enough so that you don't catch a glimps of the low-res glass of the tower windows, but close enough so that you can flick the ATCs off everytime they screw up ;D

Actually, if you check closely, you'll see that the tower at Princess Julianna airport is just a little bit too high - about 20' or so higher than the tower roof.

However, one neat feature is that when in Tower View, pressing the A key will cycle through the three closest towers...

In FSX I've noticed that tower view moves to the nearest airport tower automaticly. Correct me if i'm wrong but when in flight you can choose what  Airport tower to choose the view from. I also get that glicht where the lights are away from the aircraft when close to the airport.
