How good is it going to be

I can't help wandering just how good FSX is going to be and how well todays computers are going to be able to exploit it.
I mean the screen shots look nice, but is that level of detail going to be available all over the world? are only major cities going to be rendered or smaller places as well? And is the detail going to be limited to North America?
Does anybody have any hard facts?

Well it's only one or two DVDs max so that level of detail for the whole world isn't posible. Good job North America has some great places to fly.

Well for the compatability issue, 75% or more of this forum is going to need to upgrade their processer, 50% is going to need more RAM, and all are going to need a new GPU (unless you have a X1K or nVidia 7XXXX card in which case you can wate a year to get a new card. So basically with the jump to new tech comes the need to update tech. Want the full story jump to the hardware forums.

also depends on what type of DVD they will use. will they use the standard 4.7 gb DVD or use a dual layer, or use a double sided, or a double-dual. a DD is 18gb right there. that 6 times what FS is right now, imagine the scenery they could throw into it. and the whole DVD+R or DVD-R deal... they will probably use -R since that was the first standard.

well two of those 18GB numbers would allow you to have the same sized scenary as Xplane... would be awsome if MS did that.

18 GB is nothing compared to X-Plane's 60 GB.

..Lol....well, reading the comments and suggestions over the short time this forum has been running I would say that most guys expectations are way too high........its a 50 quid max game for Jeez sake.......not a multi million pound super simulator for training pro pilots

......lower your sites lads or you are bound for disappointment IMHO...........commoner

It was actually revealed that the screenshots were taken on a 3.2ghz rig with various older graphics cards

Though;
I think the only reason FS2004 would run REALLY bad with them graphics is because it's so poorly optimized
