ive herd talk about missions but i have not seen or herd a clear answer. will the missions in x be like weve seen so far fly frome point a to point b. or will it be more interactive like fs passingers witch is a pay ware program that lets you put pasingers in yor air craft. they give you money you buy planes ext. dose any body know it would be cool because it will make fsx more goal base then flying around pretending you have a purpous witch i think will make it better but you can still fly around amelissly if you wanted to

sorry if this question is already posted i looked a little and did not see somthing like this

I won't fly those...and if it involves me flying Cessna's in order to unlock B747's, I won't be getting FSX ;)

I don't think it will be like that, more like back in FS98 where it's more of an adventure type. I'm looking foward to it personally. :)

Yeh i agree, having to unlook planes would be a definate no no, but would be cool to have some mission based stuff, like with some pretty cinematics, or even just some vocal co-pilots ;)

This may seem stupid,
but what does "unlock" mean?

Like, the 747 is locked until you complete the missions in the C172 or the Beechcraft or whatever.

i believe the "missions" will be something in the likes of the Objective-based scenarios they had in MS Train Simulator... it was nice, they gave you something else to strive for... and they were also, purely optional... no unlocking vehicles thing (maybe you'd have to unlock the following missions but that was it)

Don't know anything about them, don't care, and won't 'play' them ::)

If the missions are like FS98 with a hint of what Moach said, they could turn out to be quite fun :)

I'll second that :D

no no not like that you can still fly them if you want but have a mission based part where you build your own airline and you half to work up to those jets through licinces and more money you can still fly all the jets like in the rest of the fs game and beleve me once things become more goal based i think ithe game will be more fun as long as they get it right to see what i mean check out fs passingers you will just half to unlock them in your carear mode if you can call it that i dont know i think it could extend the life of the game

In that case, it would be a regular game, and not a flight simulator. I eventually get tired of games, but i've never gotten tired of the flight simulators.

If you want your virtual life structered, join a VA.

I don't need my flightsim to turn into a game. I want to be able to fly whatever I want, whenever I want, without a game setting goals, points, and limits ::)

Paul Lange, the lead game designer for Flight Simulator X, describes missions in his new blog located at:
http://blogs.technet.com/p-12c_pilot/default.aspx (see: posted Tuesday, February 28, 2006 10:03 PM Playtesting)

Paul talks about using both experienced simmers and novices to test the missions and some of their reactions.

i think people have me wrong go check out fs passingers i think structure alongs side of the free flying nature and the option to have a carear or just go flying around if thats your thing not to compleatly change every thing. what will rouin it though is if the carear was your ONLY option, that would be bad and a combat system would ruin it too because you would get the game for the wrong reason if aney body here is familiar with trainz will know what a economic freight or pasinger system can do for a game im always pretending im flying people from a to b why not actualy have a system in place to do that

fs passingers

fs passingers

fspassingers look it up then come back and state what you think

Having to unlock 747s from cessnas looks bad in a way, but that could be more like a career mode, where you have to earn your hours in each plane to move up.  Personally, I think if it worked like this, I would still get the game, but it would make it a little less enjoyable.
