FSX a step forward to a virtual world platform?

Reading about FSX's 'moving vehicles and wildlife' makes me wonder whether the FSX 'world' will not bring one step forward the notion of a universal virtual world gaming/sim platform.
As well as perfectly-modelled aircraft, will designers be able to add cars and motorbikes (tips hat to Golden Wings' 1948 Cadillac, Jaguar XK120, 1941 Indian Chief motorbike), trains, ships, speedboats, hydrofoils, hovercraft... submarines (!?!)... A world that can be inhabited by 3D shoot-em-ups, rail sim, śrace-car and rally car drivers as well as combat flight sim fans.
Another question is - FSX will model the contemporary world, based on real time satellite imagery. I'd like a virtual 1940s world too...
