Heres what I found out:

Release date after the release of vista, but not before summer 2006.

Online-Satellite Scenery (kinda google-earth), possibly with the integration of MS TerraServer

Real Traffic with live schedules

weather has effect on surface (eg slippery runway)

Ground Services

Possibility of linking 2 PCs together as Pilot/Copilot

The system specs for vista are a "modern CPU", 512 MB RAM, 3.5 GB on HD.

The information comes from Martin H

well, the pilot/copilot thing is already possible to do online, UI don't remember the name of the program but we used it in our old Virtual airforce.

Also, those pics are a bit old, they were from a tecnology demonstrator or something like that, and they are some months old.

Hate to burst your bubble but those screens are from CAE flight simulators, not FSX

CAE is a level d sim for airlines

...So I won't be able to use it.  ::)

I don't want real traffic with scheduals, and I don't have a connection that can handle the online scenery thing. Depending on what they mean by "modern CPU" I have the rest covered and then some.

How many times does it have to said?

"Those who know can't tell; those who tell, don't know".

The speculation just goes on and on and on..... to what end?

Maybe it's the "CNN Syndrome" -- having to be the first to post some "news" ? If it's wrong, so what? CNN just lets it quietly die and rarely airs a retraction. In this case, the original poster admits they were deliberately misled, probably to improve the website's hit count -- just like the PCGamer article trying to boost sagging sales.

Trust me -- when the times comes, Microsoft Marketing will will start feeding us tantalizing tidbits and slowly build up to release day. They will take full advantage and manipulate the growing hunger for something "new".

In the meantime, anything you see on forums that can't be verified by a visit to the MS FS website is pure speculation. I can assure you, no matter how well-connected someone claims to be, very few (if any) people outside Redmond, Wash. *really* know what's going and they can't tell.

And one thing to keep in mind: Ignore the minimum required HD space.  FS9 lists it as 1.8GB.  I have over 20GB of FS stuff

Now how can we put this statement up as a banner to all these questions.

Cal - you have summed the whole thing up 100%.

Pay no attention to anything other than what this statement says - because this is the simple summary of the facts ......

Well I dont see a bad thing about speculations about FSX, I think its interesting and amusing, noone gets harmed, and if someone is tired of it, why is he opening the thread?

Ijineda,
I think that what Pete and others are trying to say is to be careful who you get your info from and what decisions you make based on that info.  There appears to be people who are ready to give up on FSX becuase of its apparent huge minimum requirements, and others who are going to spend a lot of money to upgrade their systems based on what could be fraudulent or inaccurate reports.

There is nothing wrong with speculating and day-dreaming about FSX.  It's actually kind of fun.   :D Let's just not go nuts and make rash decisions because someone heard from someone else who read something from somewhere about something having to do with FSX.    ::)

thats the ticket. just because specs say this and that doesnt mean everyone now must get the Athlon X2 or the Pentium Extreme, with 5gb ram and 400gb hard drives. just upgrade only what you want or need.

i know this. i kept upgrrading my comp....until i built a brand new one:P

but yeah, just hold off on the $3000 computer.
