landing,taxi lights lights up the whole field of view

so i have this jet when i turn on the landing lights and taxi light they both light up the whole field of view outside, i know there is a key or something butr i forgot what it was. so can anyone tell me what key that is also is there a diagram or a chart to look at. if there is i vant find. use to kinow but its been a long time .
