I recently downloaded an updated version of the Thomas Ruth Airbus A330-300 and the aircraft doesn't show up on the list of aircraft in FSX. I have tried making changes to the aircraft config, renaming the folder for this aircraft, and removing other Airbus aircraft of similar type that I thought were conflicting with this installation, but it made no difference. I am unsure what to do next, let alone what I might be doing wrong. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Note: I am unable to contact the developer for this particular aircraft because they don't have any contact info. I have posted a screenshot of the problem aircraft (above), which includes the developer's name.

Hi Evan, Just checked the file again and it works fine in P3D at least. The models are FSX native so they should be completely the same in FSX. Are you sure you're copying the correct folder?

Not sure you checked the correct file Pete. I tried this one in FSX-SE & it doesn't show up for me either.

I couldn't find anything wrong after checking the usual things but haven't had time to investigate properly.

Same here. I have installed the files correctly and the aircraft still doesn't show up in my FSX Select Aircraft list, no matter what I have tried to get it to work

Hi! I too downloaded the Thomas Ruth A330 yesterday to my FSX and it doesn't work. Seems too coincidental for this many of us having problems with a simple download. I also had problems with the A330 Caribes download. Same thing.

Definitely the same file (a333_updated) but I am using P3D. I have checked it over briefly and also cannot see anything obvious that would prevent it showing in FSX. Obviously soemthing is wrong.


I'll try later with FSX and see.

I'll look into it but don't own a copy of FSX. Does this apply to all releases of the A330 repaints since the last update you are trying to use?
As a last resort I could add the textures to a previous fsx model.

found a simple way-around regarding the updated A333 package for FSX users, just open the aircraft.cfg file and save it as "aircraft.cfg", replacing the old one!!

The newer A333 packages also have the same issue in FSX, good news is they can also be fixed by same method. A332 packages are working fine.

Further, it seems the issue is with the format of aircraft.cfg file. You have to save it as ANSI or UTF-8 format.
I guess "UTF-8 with BOM" format is not read by FSX.
