AutoPilot AutoThrottle Issue in FSX

Postby peterc100248 » Thu Apr 09, 2020 10:10 am

I have noticed several new aircraft uploads with an issue when using AutoThrottle on takeoff. I'm fairly certain it shows up in flight too. This is using FSX/Acceleration.

The issue is the extremely slow response of the engines when AutoThrottle is engaged for takeoff or a go around. I timed one 757-200 National Airlines plane and it took almost 30 seconds for the engines to reach takeoff thrust using the autopilot/autothrottle. The engines respond normally to the manual throttle settings.

I looked through the [AutoPilot] settings in the aircraft.cfg file for an aircraft that responds normally (realistically) and discovered a difference in the settings:

max_throttle_rate=0.000700 - or something close is far too slow for either takeoff or go around thrust.

max_throttle_rate=0.100000 - setting it to this value makes the engines respond very close to real world response.

This might have something to do with Prepar flight dynamics, but the adjustment works for FSX.
