As Chuck above and Hagar have said you can just put any sound folder from any aircraft in and it will (or should) work.
I have reloaded the N9M and I can hear the sound in P3D but it's quite a simple prop sound. I have yet to know sounds that work in P3D but not FSX. But you live and learn so thank you :)
I will add a different sound file and check that it also works in FSX and ask Pete to replace the file.

In case you are not aware of this
You can click on any .wav file and you should be able to hear it. If you click on any .wav file and do not hear anything something is rotten in denmark.
I am sure that you know that there is a sound cfg file that should be in the sound folder
Make sure the file names match those that are in the file exactly they have to be an exact match letter for letter case for case if the file name is SoUnD then the sound cfg file can not be SOUND or sound it has to be SoUnD
If you hear a sound from all of the .wav files but still hear nothing in the aircraft than the problem has to be in the sound cfg file
I for one do not like to alias any thing from one plane to another, instead I copy the entire file form one plane to another
It drives me crazy when I down load a four engine jet aircraft than discover that the panel has been aliased to the default B737. Why design a aircraft than go and mess it up by using the wrong panel for it.

I have recently downloaded the Northrop N9M FSX version and I have the same problem that there are no engine sounds interior or exterior. I do hear in the cockpit the sounds of the flaps and the wheels rolling over the tarmac. It's just the engine sounds that do not work. I've checked the sound.cfg filebut could not discover any irregularities.

Cevans has posted in reply to this problem earlier (16 april 2019) that he would add a different sound file and check that it also works in FSX and ask Pete to replace the file. However my experience is that the problem remains at this moment.
Request to Cevans: could you please look in to it, because this plane is a very nice freeware model to fly with. Of course I can copy/paste a sound folder from another aircraft (that works without any problem) but I want of course use the wav files specific made for the Northrop as you can understand.
Hope to hear form you!

It's been said already in this thread. You can put any sound from any aircraft into another aircraft. 8-)

Just find a sound you like. Copy the sound folder into the aircraft you want to have that sound with and there you go. Overwrite or delete the original sound folder.
