AI texture problems

Just wondering if anyone has an answer to this. 2 screenshots of an MPAI Fiat G91R/T, made flyable.
First one shows all the cockpit interior OK, second one, a couple of clicks panning out, and most of the interior goes, showing the see through effect. I have loads of MPAI, and other AI flyable aircraft, and none of them do this. Running W7 pro, FSX & Acceleration.
Appreciate any help.

Hi,

What texture format is it ?? .dds ( DXT1,2,3,5 ), bmp 24bit, 8bit etc. ? Check/Test with the DXTBmp tool and/or with the Image tool different
formats. Can you see format differences between the model in question and the models which are OK ?

Hello Dietmar, They are .bmp dxt3, and the format, when I check with dxtbmp are 1024 X 1024, 16 bit. The other aircraft which are OK, are the same format. Most of them are .bmp, except the JYAI aircraft which are .dds, but they also are OK.
Hope this is the information you need.

I suspect this is due to the LOD (level of detail) models used on this aircraft.
The idea is to reduce the framerate hit of AI aircraft by changing the complexity of the visual model depending on distance from the viewpoint.

Your AI G91 has 7 LOD models. Copied from the readme :

LODs: 7 (main model + 6 levels-of-detail). The polygon count varies by model and loadout, so the listed counts are rough averages.

LOD_400: 1752
LOD_200: 1690
LOD_100: 1324
LOD_050: 731
LOD_015: 646
LOD_005: 59

Alan,
try different texture formats e.g. DXT5 . However, I think there is no way to solve it via a texture change. The texture behavior for the model is also a option setting in the model developer tool like GMAX for example. So it can be transparent by color, bright by night time etc.etc.. In this case you have no
chance to solve your issue, except you have the source from the model.
So, try to make some texture format changes and see if it has any effect. If no effect, you may live with this cosmetic bug.

Hello Dietmar, Many thanks for your help. I suspected that it was something to with the model structure. I will do what you suggest, and let you know what the results are , if any.
Many thanks for pointing these facts about LOD out to me. In any case, I will keep the G91, as there aren't any other models of the G91T around.
Once again, thankyou for your assistance.
Kind regards, Alan

Hello Dietmar,
Well, I have tried all the things you suggested, and it would seem that you are correct. There is nothing I can do about the problem, but I will just have to stick with what I have got.
Many thanks for your suggestions.
Kind regards, Alan
