I am still reinstalling my FSX Gold and it is finally
looking good, except for the Menu Bar.
Anyone have any Ideas ?
I have tried deleting both the shaders without
any luck. I have also removed the dll.xml file
but no luck.
Hope someone can help....Anthin.

Have you checked your FSX "Fonts" folder? Mine has fifteen fonts The first two are arialnb, and arielnbi (I suspect one of these is the default font). I thought there was a place where you can select the font that is displayed, but if there is, I can't find it.

It could be your graphics card display settings or drivers. This was a known problem with some AMD cards a while ago.

Hi,
Just a check to see if those font files are ok, double left click on each one and it will display the various sizes that can be used, you should get the standard 'The Quick Brown fox ' etc sampled text.

Hi,
I've just 'googled' for this, has been solved by setting your video card to default then resetting as needed, do a search on the internet.

Hi,
Just done some experimenting, even if the contents of the Fonts folder are not there, you still get the menu, and all the text as normal when fsx is loading and starting your flight so the problem would appear to be not related to those font files.

Thanks Hagar and Steve.Unfortunately
the suggestions did not work.
I just remembered when I reinstalled FSX
I checked that everything was ok.The Menu
was fine.Restarted the computer and installed the
Acc disk.Did a check and the menu bar was unreadable.
I guess the head trauma I received two years ago was
far more serious than I thought. I seems to have messed my memory.
My problem might be connected to an Acceleration problem.

Hi,
I don't remember a problem when I reinstalled mine earlier this year on win 10, only had to do the registry edit to get Acc to register.
I'm 100% certain I didn't have a menu problem, sorry can't be any more help, windows or at least my win 10 holds a copy of the fonts in it's own folder so possible they are read from there, presume all the previous text is OK?
Have a look around msdn fsx developers site.
regards
steve.

It looks like Bar Codes. Can you buy a reader?
Not helpful?

How about back up the FSX.cfg Then delete the original, and let it build a new one on start up. This cured the same problem for somebody else.

What happens when you click on one of the items in the menu? Is that also unreadable?

Yes Pete.If I click on it the drop down menu is
still unreadable.
Letting the cfg rebuild itself does not work.
Same with the shaders.
This has got me beat.

Never give up. There is an answer to every problem. Have you got the service packs installed?
