Icon A5 Issues

Hey guys,
An Icon A5 was recently posted to the file library. Looks like a brilliant upload, so I went and downloaded it. However when I loaded it into FSX:SE, I received a "Cannot display visual file" warning for all the liveries. However, the 3D Preview would display. Once inside the flight, I could hear, but not see the aircraft. In the library here at simviation, that file is ICON_A5.zip. Any assistance here would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

I just checked this out in FSX and sure enough it will not show. It is fine in P3Dv4. I will change the description unless/until I can find a solution.
It is a FSX native model and this is the 1st time I have seen a FSX native model not showing in FSX.

It looks like the one that used to be on the Classicwings site and it was for P3d but you can get it to work in fsx have a look at my post

Thanks to Dave and Hagar.
I will add a note in that a/c for FSX users.
In fact let's just upload the 2 versions to keep it simple.

Awesome. I'll take a look at the linked threads and drop a screenshot when I get flying. Thank you very much.

Issues :
I got mine to Fly in FSX Gold / Acceleration after reading the post threads and changing the Model CFG File as described
NOW, I can't get the Stereo to work nor the CD Player to play any tunes
and the Air Conditioning isn't ,,,,, blowing cold,,,, down here near the E'quaker and its HOTT down here and humid
I Shall try installing sum Free' On , and see if that cools things down a bit, maybe it was low on, Free' On'
other than that , works, looks great, just need to Add your own Views inside & out and sum Pop Up Panel Du'Flunkies
I added the Freeware :
FLYPAD as a pop up and the Country Gauge as well.
FLYPAD :

https://simviation.com/1/search?submit=1&keywords=country+gauge&x=0&y=0 BOTH Easy to Install & Inject , I use them as POP-UP windows in several of my Aircraft in FSX Gold / Acceleration Boxed edition

Great aircraft, thanks for posting.
I know the Icon A5 has wing flaps, but these don’t appear to be animated (P3D) Version, but clearly they have an aerodynamic effect.
Is this fixable?
Thanks,
Fabio

Looking through the real world company's website, I don't see any reference to flaps. I'll just keep my hands off that switch.

If you add some (a lot?) of + pitch trim, and reduce throttle..., you can 'simulate' no flaps (yet, slow ac down as if it DID have flaps - lift and all). (Or not?).

I would be happy to concede the point because I have no true knowledge of this delightful little aeroplane, but I based my comment from Googling “Icon A5 flaps” and the many resultant images of A5’s with flaps!
If they are there, it would be nice to see them. This said, there’s no obvious flap lever or switch, so...
I am tempted to import the fuselage into model converter to see what that comes up with.
What a super little craft this is.

I imported it into ModelConverterX, and the only wing animation evident was the folding wings.
The aircraft.cfg has acflaps section, and the aerodynamic effects of flaps are evident.
Does anyone have a very clear understanding of the Icon A5 and flaps?

Copied from this article dated July 27th, 2010 - (written before the aircraft was in production) -->
https://newatlas.com/improvements-to-icon-aircraft-a5/15835/Light Sport Aircraft (LSA) manufacturer, ICON Aircraft, has announced two major design enhancements aimed at to simplifying aircraft complexity and increase safety in its A5 amphibious, two-seat, composite carbon fiber plane. The first improvement for the plane, which is edging closer to production, is the elimination of wing flaps, which will simplify pilot operations, while the second is a spin-resistant design that will include, amongst other things, the addition of wing cuffs to lower the stall speed of the aircraft.
Eliminating the flaps
Removal of the flaps is the other improvement to the A5. Flaps are typically used to reduce an aircraft’s stall speed for landing. However, Light Sport Aircraft regulations already require that Light Sport Aircraft stall no faster than 45 knots without the use of flaps. Given this FAA requirement combined with the LSA maximum speed restriction, ICON eliminated the A5 flaps since they offer marginal benefit for their increased complexity.
“When an airplane can function equally well with less complexity, the result is increased safety,” said Gionta. “The pilot of an A5 will never have to remember to set the flaps for landing, whether on water or land. This is a classic example where simplicity is elegance, and that translates directly into a safer aircraft for our pilots.”
Note: For those who might not know, there were two fatal accidents involving the A5 last year (2017), one resulting in the death of Icon's chief test pilot Roy Halladay.

Ohhhh Shit,,,, I'm in Deep Deep FAA Sim Do Doo, I've had my Icony thingy up to 400 knots in a Dive Bomber mode, aiming for the runway ,,, to land.
Will I be fined

Excellent!
It has the best sort of flaps, low maintenance, low visibility, high effectiveness virtual flaps.
It could explain a lot, but let’s not get in too much of a flap about it...
